Library Technician at Jones Library

About

On the record

I am a current graduate student at UMASS pursuing a Master's in Literature. I am an Early Modernist and Modernist scholar, particularly in Shakespearean and Joycean studies. My research utilizes environmental humanity and feminist theoretical frameworks, investigating alternate modalities of progress and autonomy, as well as the depths and contexts of female epistemologies. Professionally, I have experience in the publishing industry and libraries. I spent seven months as a publishing intern with Restless Books, where I was the point-person for marketing copy, writing back cover copy, reading guides, discussion questions, publicity materials, and newsletters. Currently, I work as a Library Technician at the Jones Library, North Amherst branch. Here, I run a Storytime for children 0-5, as well as an adult book club focusing on Climate Fiction. I am responsible for circulation desk duties, as well as program planning, display creation, and other creative tasks. I have created engaging displays concerning the following themes: JUV Women's History Month, JUV Black History Month, Adult Black History Month, Essay Collections, Shakespeare Retold, Diverse Biographies, and 'Fall Into a Good Book.' Empathy, compassion, and critical thinking are my core values, and I strive to create inclusive and empathetic environments both academically and professionally. I have strong skills in interpersonal relations, event planning, and organization. Outside of work, you could find me struggling with the crossword on the back page of The New Yorker, or rearranging my bookshelves for the umpteenth time (I always end up going back to my librarian roots- alphabetical by author last name) Don't hesitate to reach out to me for any inquiries! I appreciate you viewing my profile and reading this far down. I hope we can connect! StrengthsQuest® Top Strengths: Intellection | Input | Empathy | Learner | Ideation
