I am an evangelist for the benefits and value of Quality Assurance and automated testing and I always strive to highlight its importance and the gains that companies and organizations can derive by adopting the core tenets of QA for all software-related projects. The convergence of the telecommunications industry and the space industry with the traditional software development IT industry is causing them to adopt techniques and practices which until recently were considered only the province of the latter. The continuous evolution of software in terms of functionality and complexity and the market trend towards integration with open-source software as opposed to the traditional custom fully proprietary solutions of the past, are making the need for strong testing and QA even more pronounced. My role in this area is to ensure that companies realize the value of testing and the cost of the lack thereof. It’s my job to pick out the best solution for their needs, to design the test framework, the Continuous Integration pipeline, to define the test scope and to use the best tools possible in order to get the testing process just right, to add value without overhead and to ensure quality, excellence and success.
