My story starts in Tajikistan, a small country in Central Asia, and has been defined by major changes, quick adjustments, and a drive to learn, grow, and connect. At the age of 14, I started learning English in pursuit of my biggest dream - studying in the United States. At the age of 17, I became one of the 30 students (out of from Tajikistan to get a scholarship to study in a US High School. This was my third and the last possible attempt at the scholarship. At the age of 21, I entered the world of Venture Capital as an Analyst and started investing in the fastest-growing frontier tech startups. A year later, we became the category-leading venture fund in the world according to Goldman Sachs and CB Insights. At the age of 23, I assisted the Managing Director in managing more than $50 million in AUM across 4 funds. Some of our big winners: Robinhood, Andela, Gusto, SpaceX, Planet, Patreon, Boom Supersonic, etc. At the age of 24, I cofounded a non-profit organization back in my home country of Tajikistan with the goal of equipping the youth with technical skills through coding bootcamps. We have trained 250+ people thus far. Today, I'm helping grow Mapbox and bring better maps and navigation to all products.
