About
On the record
Greetings family, friends and peers alike! I hope this finds you all well and off to a great, happy and healthy start to this New Year! So, over the years, many of you have been participant to at least one or more of my written musings about all manner of things, usually prompted by a media story or headline that raised a speculative eyebrow. Politics, religion, righteousness- you name it, I've probably had a comment or attempted a quip about it. Sometimes you responded in agreement with me. Other times we agreed to disagree in a most friendly and professional manner. But if there was one certainty, it's that we had some truly rewarding and fun conversations that I have learned from and been inspired by, and for that, I am in your debt. For about a decade now, I have been privately working on what I think might turn out to be my most provocative and controversial commentary yet. You know I'm not much for taking things at face value, and I definitely will not agree with something just because "they" told me to. This effort is no exception to that rule. Admittedly, I'm terrified. I am about to expose myself to a potential level of vulnerability from public scrutiny that, quite frankly, I'm not really sure I will be able to handle. What I have said is going to sting fiercely for many. It may disappoint others and could bring considerable backlash, but sometimes a person is overcome with a level of conviction about something that cannot be bound, and may require a departure from normal or expected behaviors. Sometimes, bold action is necessary. Knowing what I do now, I believe that if I didn't say something, I'd be no better than those I challenge in this story- I'd be a hypocrite and a coward. I cannot live with that. If you care to take a gander, and I really hope you will, I can promise you one thing when you are done- you will absolutely NEVER have seen this coming! May I present, No Legacy Here: Memoir of a Marine Officer in Iraq https://mcfarlandbooks.com/product/no-legacy-here/ As its not an exact science, release dates are regularly shifting, but I have confidence it will be available through multiple mediums within the next couple of months. Good, bad or otherwise, I can't wait to hear what you think and welcome any and all discussions should you desire. If you do read it, and you like it, please feel free to share it. If I have managed correctly, the message of the book will be brutally clear, and I believe its a message that I can never miss an opportunity to spread. My best wishes to you all! Win
