With deep roots on Bere Island off the coast of West Cork, I have the privilege of continuing my family's legacy while driving innovation in Ireland’s marine industry. As the owner and operator of Bere Island Boatyard, an award-winning shipyard that was recognized as "Shipyard of the Year" at the Marine Industry Awards in 2015, I am committed to delivering high-quality service and repair work for fishing and commercial vessels. Our services include coating, painting, steelwork, hydraulics, and engine repairs. A significant milestone for the boatyard was the €1 million investment in covering our state-of-the-art dry dock, which now allows us to operate year-round without disruption from the weather. This advancement expands the range of work we can perform and has allowed us to grow our workforce. A passion for both Bere Island and the marine industry drives our efforts to foster local employment and sustainable growth. I believe in the potential of the next generation of Irish workers, but until training structures are established, we are supported by skilled professionals from across Europe. Living and working on Bere Island is more than just a business endeavour—it's about preserving the heritage of the island and contributing to its economic and social future. As we move forward, I remain dedicated to growing the boatyard and strengthening our local community while setting a high standard in the marine sector.
