About
On the record
After 20 years as a VC (and previously entrepreneur), I have been active with companies and investment firms, mainly through advisory work. In addition, I am currently the chairman of a $700 million revenue, profitable Nasdaq-traded company, and one other private company. I have worked with PE firms, family offices and CEOs, focusing on corporate and growth-through-innovation strategies, and building upon the implications of global, cross-cultural organizations. I've been involved with companies doing business in the US, Europe, and Asia. For 20 years, since its inception, I was a Managing General Partner with Walden Israel, a venture capital firm, completed a large number of successful "exits" of portfolio companies, and was chairman and director of numerous companies in a variety of industries and sizes. Before that I was a co-founder of an American company in the field of wireless communications that, during my time there, grew from three to over 400 employees and reached a market cap of $1 billion on Nasdaq. I had numerous responsibilities and frequent interaction with Wall Street and was in charge of acquired companies in The US, UK and Canada. I sat until recently on the Technion's (Israel Institute of Technology) Council (Executive Board) where I was for a few years the chair of the finance committee. I am chairman of the endowment ($2.5 billion) investment committee, and am a also member of Technion Board of Governors. I'm very active in the long term planning of the entrepreneurship, innovation and tech transfer ecosystem at this leading university. I am also active in the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem at CU Boulder. I am an experienced Board director and chairman and qualify for audit committees. I am often asked to consider Board and advisory opportunities in various companies, especially those in profitable growth mode. I work very well with people and am effective at helping managements navigate among markets, technology, operations, partners, their boards and investors. I have also worked with managing partners of investment firms. My Advisory Committee role at the Caesarea Center for Capital Markets and Risk Management allowed me to develop deep knowledge in many aspects of institutional asset management firms. I have often been viewed as having a unique and effective strategic vision, combined with deep operational and financial knowledge. I have kayaked, hiked and canoed the northernmost and southernmost parts of the globe.
