Whether working independently or as part of a team, I believe strongly in integrity, collaboration, consultation and open communication as being critical tools to cut through complexity and deliver results. I am a “roll my sleeves up & get-the-job-done” kind of person with a participative and solution oriented engagement style. My passions include people development, continuous learning as well as influencing positive understanding & behaviours, which I believe is imperative to driving profitability and growth. 12 years ago, I began my working life in New Zealand leading a team of Account Managers for NZ Safety. This was a pivotal time when significant workplace health and safety reform was underway which meant everyone had to evolve their understanding of risk management, the hierarchy of controls, PCBU and accountability for health and safety at work. Over the years, it has I been my privilege to work with a variety of people & businesses, attend industry specific training, initiate self-directed research via online resources (Worksafe, Site Safe, EPA NZ, etc) and collaborate with various PPE suppliers. As a result, I now have a working knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015 and other legislation, regulations and standards that serve to guide and promote positive practices and the use of equipment that are fit for purpose to ensure workplace health & safety. While I have enjoyed a long & successful career mostly rooted in service, support and sales, my recent experience includes developing & implementing safety protocols, conducting safety audits and inspections of work areas & equipment, creating & reviewing H&S documentation (JSA’s, SWMS and SOP), issuing work permits, preparing incident reports and conducting investigations, as well as supporting & developing evacuation plans and procedures. I am equipped with a wealth of skills, practical knowledge & business acumen developed through both my formal education and diversity of work experience. My goal now is to grow my experience in the H&S industry for the purposeful improvement of health, safety & wellbeing and I am committed to delivering excellence in my future collaborations.
