Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple” – Steve Jobs I love to think about how to make things easier. Since young age, I observed and experienced situations in which I asked myself: “Why did nobody come up with an easy solution for that?” Back in the days these were questions like: “Why do I have to rewind my VHS tape?” or “Why do I get kicked off the Internet when Mom’s on the phone?” I grew older and I kept on discovering similar issues, but I also became able to solve some of them myself. While I gained technical experience in the field of informatics my relatives became my first customers when it came to fixing PCs. In the beginning, I wanted to show them how they can tweak their PC to the best performance. However, I soon realised by listening to them that they simply want things to work. During my studies at university I got projects and internship positions where the tasks got a little more complex and more responsibility was on my shoulders. Yet, the learning was the same: Provide the results in the easiest, most accessible way. For me the ultimate challenge of any consumer driven company lies in making even the most complex product look simple and enjoyable. As product manager I envision myself working for a company that embodies the same mindset of putting the customer in the centre of every decision while being surrounded by enterprising challenges and like-minded people.
