German Sparkassenstiftung Western Africa

The German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation is the development policy institution of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. It carries the Sparkasse model of success across regional borders into the world, with the aim of giving people in developing and emerging countries access to financial services and thus creating perspectives for a way out of poverty. In West Africa, we operate in Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia and Senegal on the "Sustainable transformation of the financial sector by strengthening the credit union sector and promoting equal representation of women and youth in West Africa (regional project)". The primary objective of our Regional Project is to improve financial inclusion and job creation for MSMES, women and youth to promote the local economy by strengthening credit union associations and their members to offer needs-based services and demand-oriented financial services and products.
