Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation
The Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation seeks to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal to end poverty in all its forms everywhere (SGD1) by making high-volume treatment interventions to cure patients of cataract blindness in the developing world by 2030. The London and Kathmandu-based headquartered foundation orchestrates large-scale grassroots activities and microsurgical camps to cure blindness in countries including Nepal, Indonesia, Bhutan, Laos, Ghana, Tanzania and Ethiopia. The Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation was founded in March 2021 by philanthropist Tej Kohli and pre-eminent ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Dr Sanduk Ruit. The large-scale grassroots programmes of intervention by the Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation include special provision to empower women by readdressing the gender inequality that exists in the provision of cataract surgery. The foundation also seeks to address and to resolve untreated backlogs of untreated congenital cataracts in children. The Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation is a restricted fund operating under the auspices of Prism the Gift Fund, registered UK charity number 1099682.
