University Of Nigeria Students Judiciary
The University of Nigeria Students Union Government Judiciary is the third arm of the Students Union Government which is created pursuant to Section 60 of the Students Union Government Constitution, 2016. The Judiciary bears the duty of adjudicating over disputes of both students and organs of the Union. The Judiciary additionally assists in the growth and development of the law in the Nigerian University Environment. It achieves this by publishing law papers, organizing of career conferences, workshops, public lectures, Legal writing competitions aimed at enlightening law students to prepare them for their careers. The Students Judiciary comprises the Four appointed judges, two from each campus and also the Chief Judge all of whom form the Judicial Council of the University. The Chief Judge is the head of the judicial council and He is the Administrative Head of the Judicial arm of the University of Nigeria Students' Union Government (UNN SUG) and the only elected member of the UNN SUG Judiciary. The UNN SUG Chief Judge is generally the leader of the UNN SUG Judiciary and the Presiding Judge at all cases heard before the High Court of the UNN SUG. He interfaces with the University Administration (such as the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellors, Dean/Associate Dean of Students' Affairs and the Chief/Deputy Chief Security Officer) on matters relating to the students' judiciary.
