Multinational Corps Northeast

Multinational Corps Northeast is an integral part of the NATO Force Structure. It serves as a consistently present, regionally aligned NATO Response Corps and Warfighting Headquarters, always ready and on standby to lead Allied operations across NATO's northeastern flank. Since June 2017, MNC NE has operated as a High-Readiness Force. MNC NE provides a vital boost to NATO's rapid reaction capability and serves as a key military guarantor of peace in the Baltic Sea region. Its Headquarters ensures unified command for NATO activities across Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland. As the highest NATO command in the region, HQ MNC NE holds responsibility for the NATO ground troops already stationed along the northeastern flank of the Alliance. If necessary, it is ready to command and control additional troops, including the land elements of NATO’s follow-on forces. HQ MNC NE and its subordinate units focus on training for defensive operations to effectively deter any potential attack and, if required, to defend NATO's northeastern territory against any aggressor. The Corps' Headquarters is located in Szczecin, northwestern Poland.

JFTC is a critical element in the transformation of NATO and Partner forces through exercises and training.

The Grand Hetman Kostiantyn Ostrogski Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade

Lithuanian–Polish–Ukrainian Brigade LITPOLUKRBRIG is a multinational unit consisting of subunits from the Lithuanian, Polish and Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Agreement on its creation was signed on the 19th of September 2014 in Warsaw. The Brigade was finally formed in the fall of 2015. On the 25th of January 2016 Antoni Macierewicz, the Minister of National Defence of Republic of Poland, Juozas Olekas, the Minister of National Defence of Republic of Lithuania and General of the Army of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine inaugurated the joint Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade LITPOLUKBRIG at the official opening ceremony in Lublin. The LITPOLUKRBRIG is made up of an international staff, three battalions and special-purpose units. Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine each assigns an infantry battalion, and personnel for special-purpose units and the LITPOLUKRBRIG staff. LITPOLUKRBRIG maneuver battalions are the Lithuanian Army Land Forces Grand Duchess Birute Uhlan Battalion (Lithuania), 5 Podhale Rifleman battalion (Poland), 1 Airmobile Battalion of the 80 Airborne Brigade (Ukraine). Also, there is a number of battle support and logistic units in the Brigade structure. Representatives of Poland, Ukraine and Lithuania are assigned to the positions of LITPOLUKRBRIG Commander, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff on a three years rotating basis. The current LITPOLUKRBRIG commander is Colonel Zenon Brzuszko (Polish Armed Forces). Second in command is Deputy Commander Colonel Volodymyr Yudanov (Ukrainian Armed Forces). Lieutenant Colonel Eligijus Senulis (Lithuanian Armed Forces) has been assigned as the Chief of Staff of the LITPOLUKRBRIG. Initial Operational Capabilities achieved on the 25th of January. Full Operational Capabilities achieved on 24th January 2017.
