Cuban Neuroscience Center
The Cuban Neurosciences Center, CNEURO, began as one of the first groups in the world that used computers for the analysis of the brain electrical activity. It is today one of the institutions dedicated to basic and applied research, as well as the development of high technology for the diagnosis and intervention of problems related to mental health. CNEURO’s research lines address issues related to the neurosciences: cognitive, social and experimental; clinical neurophysiology; molecular biology and neuroinformatics. Our mission is to promote and perform cutting-edge research and closed-cycle in the field of neuroscience, with a multidisciplinary approach to understand how the brain and diseases affecting the nervous system work. CNEURO is integrated by a multidisciplinary team of professionals who hold scientific, technologist and research categories, with a high visibility level in high impact journals as Neuroimage, Plos One, Human Brain Mapping, Computational Intelligence and Neuroscience, Cerebral Cortex, Brain Research, Clinical EEG and Neuroscience. It has more than 200 researchers dedicated to basic and applied research and the development of new products in areas such as Neurophysiology, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Psychology, Mathematics, Physics, Cybernetics, Molecular Biology, among others. CNEURO investigations are aimed at developing medical applications, which are implemented in coordination with hospitals and other institutions of the National Health and Education Systems. To conduct research, development and production of neurotechnology, CNEURO has several capacities, which include specialized clinical laboratories of chemical synthesis, brain MRI, three-dimensional printing and hearing aids. CNEURO is currently focused on two complementary working lines: 1. Multidisciplinary nervous system research and development of methods for medical diagnosis. Creation of Medical Services based on scientific techniques for the detection, evaluation, and prophylaxis of the nervous system
