Bakame Editions
Bakame Editions is an independent, non-profit publishing house operating in Rwanda since 1995 in the field of publishing and reading culture promotion. It is the first publishing house for children and young people established in Rwanda with the aim to produce quality books for children and young people in their mother tongue, Kinyarwanda. Since it was founded in 1995, Bakame Editions has produced millions of copies of over 250 titles in Kinyarwanda, English, French and Swahili. Bakame Editions is active in reading promotion activities and has set up a children's library dubbed "Isomero Uruhongore" in the Environment Museum of Karongi District. The work of Bakame Editions has been frequently recognized nationally and internationally with the major award received in 2013, the BOP Bologna Prize of Best Children’s Publisher of the year in Africa. Bakame Editions attends annually the Bologna Children's Book Fair, Frankfurt Book Fair and Geneva Book and Press Fair.
