Historien om Borup Kemi tager sin begyndelse i 1908 i en baggård på Nørrebro. Adolf Christiansen fik en god idé og grundlagde virksomheden Nørrebros Produktforretning, der nærmest handlede med hvad som helst. Virksomheden udviklede sig hurtigt og i 1932 blev Christian Willers-Madsen, der senere fik en meget afgørende indflydelse på virksomhedens udvikling, ansat i firmaet. Lige efter 2. verdenskrig, købte Christian Willers-Madsen virksomheden af Adolf Christiansen. I 1959 skiftede virksomheden navn til Farvehandlernes Aftapningscentral, der passede bedre til de nuværende aktiviteter. Virksomheden startede på Nørrebro, men flyttede senere til Frederikssundsvej på grund af for små faciliteter. I 1962 var virksomheden vokset så meget, at man købte en gammel smedje i Borup og flyttede hovedsædet herud. Men allerede i 1972 måtte man udvide faciliteterne. Først i 1982, da den nuværende direktør André Willers-Madsen havde overtaget virksomheden efter sin far, skiftede firmaet navn til Borup Kemi. Siden da er virksomheden vokset og blevet en af Danmarks førende producenter af kemikalier til husholdninger, pulverkemi og rengøringsmidler, men leverer og markedsfører også en lang række kendte varemærker fra ind og udland bl.a. Vileda, Polyfilla, Hammerite Metalmaling, Plasti-Kote spraymaling, Rodalon, Bayer Garden haveprodukter m.m.

A tremendous dilemma Should we sacrifice the atmosphere? In the absence of proper protection, the underside of vessels is susceptible to significant marine biofouling. Heavy biofouling can result in a substantial increase in fuel consumption, up to 50%, leading to poor fuel efficiency and higher CO2 emissions. The shipping industry accounts for nearly 3% of the world's total CO2 emissions. Or poison the sea? The solution today is antifouling coatings. All cost-efficient coatings are toxic to marine organisms making up the fouling. Unfortunately, coatings contain toxic additives so-called biocides, which are released into the ocean contaminating marine life. Annually, tons of copper are discharged into the oceans due to antifouling coatings, equivalent to the weight of a blue whale. EnCoat cuts the dilemma in half Traditional antifouling coatings often rely on excessive biocides to compensate for their tendency to leach into the sea before proper usage. EnCoat's technology, however, encapsulates the co-biocides, extending their antifouling effectiveness. This innovative approach allows for up to a 50% reduction in the required amounts of biocides while maintaining the same level of protection.
