Giving Tree connects expats and their companies to local migrant children who are shown the importance of giving and being charitable. River of Hearts redistributes clothing, toys, and other gently used items to people who need them. Counseling. CCS employs a dozen certified professional counselors who help expats and their families address the mental and emotional challenges that can be associated with life in Shanghai. CCS counselors currently comprise more than half of the Shanghai International Mental Health Association (SIMHA) board. Classes and Tours. CCS offers a variety of classes and tours such as: language, cooking, hobby, children programs, exploring China opportunities, etc. They encourage the international community to educate itself about the surroundings, meet people, pursue a hobby or share a talent and love of teaching. Events. Our events create connections and help foster a greater sense of community. We have a diverse offering of events including fun runs, bazaars designed to bring the community together and to promote and raise funds for CCS and its charitable activities.

China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) is a national public foundation founded in March 1989 in Beijing. The mission of CYDF is to empower young people to build capacity by providing aid services, carrying out social advocacy, and giving a voice to the interests of young people. Project Hope, launched by CYDF in October 1989, is one of the most well-known and widely participated philanthropic programs in China. The mission of Project Hope is to provide every child with the opportunity to develop, learn, and thrive. On the principle of common mission and values, CYDF has established partnerships with 33 foundations at both provincial level and municipal level, as authorized and envisaged by the CYDF service trademark. In providing aid and support to the underserved, Project Hope has played a significant role in advocating ethics, addressing social problems, and promoting widespread national reform. At the close of 2013, Project Hope raised a cumulative 9.76 billion RMB (3.17 billion of which was raised by CYDF); aided 4,953,743 impoverished rural students; and built 18,335 Hope Primary Schools. Additional achievements of Project Hope include: 20,604 Mini Libraries; 926 Computer Labs; 2,850 Hope Kitchens; 5,959 Happy Playgrounds; 924 Music Classrooms; 320 Arts Classrooms; 565 sets of digital movie projection; 78,468 rural primary school teachers trained; 10 charity vocational schools sponsored; 5 Hope Communities; 22 Hope Hospitals and 507 Hope Clinics. Every 3 out of Chinese students have received a Project Hope scholarship, and every 7 out of 100 rural elementary schools in China are Hope Elementary Schools. In addition to Project Hope, CYDF is also dedicated to efforts that enagage young people in environment protection, science exploration and innovation, voluntary service and social entreprenuership. In 2013, CYDF was again rated by the Ministry of Civil Affairs as a 5A foundation.

Project Pengyou (“Pengyou” means friend in Mandarin Chinese) is a flagship initiative of the Golden Bridges Foundation that fosters U.S-China youth leadership. Shanghai Disabled Person's Federation
On September 25, 1986, the city held the inaugural meeting of the Disabled Persons' Federation, announcing the formal establishment of Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation, the first disabled persons' federation in China. Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation is the unified organization of the disabled in Shanghai. The following associations are established respectively for the blind, the deaf and the disabled Federation and three associations a group, four brands. The Federation is also responsible for the rehabilitation of the mentally disabled and the mentally ill and other social activities. In 1988, with the approval of the municipal government, Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation was designated as a unit at the deputy bureau level. In 1996, it was upgraded to a bureau-level organisational unit.

The Royal Asiatic Society China In Shanghai
In 1857 a small group of British and Americans seeking intellectual engagement in a city dedicated to commerce established the Shanghai Literary and Scientific Society. Within a year the organisation was granted affiliation with the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland (RAS), and the North China Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society (NCBRAS) was born. The RAS returned to China in 2006 when a branch was established in Hangzhou. Its activities were transferred to Shanghai in early 2007 and in September that year under the name of The RAS China in Shanghai it formally reconvened the activities of the North China Branch of the RAS. The Society is very aware of the need to build upon its tradition and to embrace the challenges and opportunities to develop its activities and interests for a wide audience today. Apart from offering a broad range of talks and events the Society has resurrected its journal and has established a new library for the benefit of our members, scholars and the public.

China Chamber of International Commerce, or CCOIC, was established in 1988 with the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. Affiliated to China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), CCOIC is a nationwide chamber of commerce comprised of enterprises, groups and other business organizations that are engaged in international commercial activities in China. CCOIC adopts a membership system and its main responsibilities include: promoting economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries; reflecting interest appeal of enterprises to international organizations and government departments of China and foreign countries on behalf of Chinese business community; participating in constitution and promotion of international trade rules; facilitating enterprises to participate in international competition and cooperation; safeguarding legitimate rights of its members, and actively advocating social responsibility and public welfare among business circles. By mid-December 2019, CCOIC has member enterprises, including most central SOEs, national financial institutions, a large number of well-known private enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises. CCOIC has become one of the most influential business associations in China. With the aim of building a hub-like chamber of commerce, CCOIC has institutional cooperation with other business associations from home and abroad, and provides services for its members and other enterprises including international exchange, industrial cooperation, legal advice, market information, exhibition planning, project investment and training.

International Society For Digital Earth
The International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE), inaugurated in 2006 is a non-political, non-governmental and not-for-profit international organization. Its mission is to benefit society by promoting the development and realization of Digital Earth. The purpose of ISDE is to promote international cooperation on realising the vision of Digital Earth, and enable Digital Earth technologies to play key roles in economic and socially-sustainable development, to promote information technology and to reduce digital gap. ISDE will play key role in different aspects of using natural resources, optimizing environment, protecting cultural heritage, improving disaster mitigation ability, global change studies, natural resources conservation and improvement of living standards.ISDE has successfully organized 12 International Symposia on Digital Earth and 9 Digital Earth Summits in 15 countries around the world.
