Youth Empowerment And Support Initiative-Malawi
How can we help young people reach their full potential? So many young people in Africa grow up with hopes and dreams for the future, but only a few reach everything they aspire to. Many people grow up in communities, sometimes even families, which prevents them from achieving these aspirations. What can be done about it? Are there any stories from those who have overcome such obstacles to help others achieve a better future? YESI was founded in March 2017 by a group of young volunteers to help mitigate the challenges faced by young people through sponsorships of secondary school tuition fees, mentorship, and skills development, and the employment of participatory strategies of disseminating, educating, and informing the community on issues that affect the youth and society in general.

Citizens For Justice Malawi
Citizens for Justice (CFJ) was established to fill the gap that existed at the time, a lack of organizations advocating for the rights of communities affected by environmental issues emanating from mining activities in Malawi. In the mid Malawi shifted its economic focus to include large scale mining in order to boost its Gross Domestic Product. CFJ's initial interventions were geared at raising awareness of the impacts of the mining industry towards environmental and economic justice. This was later broadened to incorporate threats to environmental justice in general and a range of related issues affecting local communities countrywide including poverty, corporate abuse, climate change, food sovereignty, HIV/AIDS, and gender inequality, among others. Realizing that these challenges cannot be effectively addressed if government systems are weak, CFJ integrated good governance interventions into its programs. We believe that Malawi, as a country endowed with abundant natural resources, if well managed can transform and meaningfully change the lives of its people if local communities benefit from them. CFJ aims to speak with and for the poor and the voiceless so that they are part of the processes affecting the protection and promotion of their rights in Malawi. We are currently working on- Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative - Publish What You Pay - Responsive Mining Governance Project including coordinating the Natural Resources Justice Network - Open Government Partnership - Access to Justice through camp courts - Strengthening Accountability Institutions through partnership with the Anti-Corruption Bureau - Budget and Expenditure Transparency with the Office of the President and the Cabinet Good Governance Unit We partner with a range of institutions and are supported by a number of development partners.

Green Spark
Green Spark is a Malawian grassroots movement backed up by the Germany charity Green Spark e.V. We aim for a sustainable life for Malawian communities around Nkhata Bay.> We combine the best of two worlds: green trends from industrial countries meet African wisdom and tradition.> We are the change that we wish to see in the world: we lead by example, teach through hands-on activities and spread green ideas.> We ignite, involve and inspire not only our community in Nothern Malawi but as well our supporters in the industrial world. FIRST PROJECT: planting moringa trees in 2019 The moringa trees will improve the health of the communities and generate income for the families. Leaves and seeds that won’t be used by the communities will be bought off by Green Spark and turned into other products. SECOND PROJECT: fighting malaria with artemisia Malaria is spread all over Malawi. Especially in rural areas with lack of access to medical treatment and malnourishment malaria often ends deadly. The special type of sweet wormwood, the Artemisia Annua Anamed (A3), contains the highest number of beneficial compounds. A tea made with the dried A3 leaves can cure malaria and save many lives. THIRD FOCUS: reducing plastic pollution Malawi is located at the second biggest lake of the African continent which is the habitat for over 600 endemic fish species. Plastic pollution is not only an issue for the oceans. It is a threat for lakes, too. Green Spark spreads the love for ecobricks. An Ecobrick is a reusable building block created by packing clean and dry used plastic into a plastic bottle to a set density.
