Sierra Leone Diamond Kids Foundation
The Sierra Leone Diamond Kids Foundation (SLDKF) is pulling forward all humanitarian forces to target sixteen thousand street children within a span of five years. The scheme itself is set to reduce child poverty by a quarter and help government consolidate gains made in such a direction. The overall aim is to identify children with felt needs, help those going through psychosocial challenges, and bring these diverse sets of children to designated homes for a reform. These strides will see the creation of a network within Sierra Leone where orphanages, schools, hospitals and day-care centres will be established to help vulnerable children rise to prosperous levels, thereby supporting the cohesive efforts towards nation-building. SLKDF has begun establishing regional branches, with one already in Makeni and another in Bo. The effort will target all provincial headquarter towns, and orphanages will be built to support the child-response endeavour. On sustainable grounds, SLDKF will source funds from foreign donors and from the Government of Sierra Leone to help achieve its goals. Every child deserves to be safe, healthy, and loved, which is why Sierra Leone Diamond Kids Foundation dedicates itself to ending the complicated cycle of child abuse and neglect. We know that breaking this complicated intergenerational cycle requires a multi-faceted strategy: We must intervene and help fragile victims heal when maltreatment has already occurred, and must also work to keep it from happening – both now and in the next generation
