Community Empowerment For Progress Organization - Cepo
Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) is a non-profit, civil society, South Sudanese organization, founded in 2010. Since its inception, the organization has provided of legal aid services and peace building at Justice and Confidence Centres across South Sudan. CEPO is engaged in the areas of Peace and conflict mitigation, human rights, rule of law, livelihood, governance and democratic transformation. CEPO’s vision is building capacity and capability of society members towards development through self-reliance. CEPO has established relationships with state justice actors and created networks of civil society and have direct engaging with Africa Union Transitional Justice Directorate CEPO have five years’ experience in dealing with torture, documentation of human rights violations and submission of shadow reports on status of human rights in South Sudan to UN Human Rights Council and the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights CEPO have experience of influencing decision makers at National and regional level on matters of prevention and protection of human rights. Evidently CEPO was able to reach Memorandum of Understanding with South Sudan Army and Police on implementing the signed joint communique between the Government of South Sudan and the UN Secretary General special representative on prevention of conflict related sexual violence. Further CEPO reached partnership with AU Political Affairs division on piloting implementation of AUTJP in South Sudan CEPO has experience of using media for championing Human rights and Transitional Justice issues
