Who we are Founded in 2014 and based in Madagascar Renala is a producer of virgin vegetable oils and botanical natural ingredients for cosmetic and nutraceutical industries. Our activities By working closely with the local collectors we are establishing wild and sustainable botanicals supply chain completely traceable. Most of them are organic certifiable by EcoCert upon request. Coupled with the state-of-art production processes allow the company to produce cold pressed virgin vegetable oils in line with the most stringent international quality standards. Renala provides also consultation services specialized in Madagascar raw materials sourcing, ethnobotanism, regulatory and marketing information to encourage the development of new ingredients for personal care and nutraceutical industries, formulas which combine science with emotional stories insights. Research and development Madagascar is believed to contain almost half of the world’s plant species of which 85 % are endemic. This mini-continent that time forgot is an incredible storehouse of biodiversity. The island is the paradise for ethno botanists and the promise of original ingredients with unique properties and unprecedented benefits. Sustainable and ethical Madagascar forest and biodiversity is under strong anthropogenic pressures: slash-and-burn agriculture, illegal logging, mining are the main. The result of this irrational natural resource management has conducted to the destruction of 90 % of the forest cover in one century. Renala is a social enterprise committed to create economic value for biodiversity in order to protect it. We are convinced that by developing economic value chains from underutilized trees and plants we will create alternative income for the collectors and also involve those local communities in a more rational management of their natural resource and the biodiversity conservation.
