King Island Dairy
As one of Australia’s oldest dairy producers, we take pride in small-batch, handmade cheeses made using traditional techniques, honed over time and passed down with care. Our cheeses draw on the island’s unique climate, rich soil and salty pastures — the result, some say, of shipwrecked straw mattresses that scattered foreign grass seeds along the coastline, now flourishing in King Island’s pristine, mineral-rich environment and unspoiled pure air. King Island is a place like no other – located in the Bass Strait between Tasmania and mainland Australia — it is remote, windswept by the Roaring Forties, and utterly unique. Its rich soils, abundant rainfall, salty pastures, and mild temperatures year-round, create ideal conditions for dairy farming. This rare combination of elements gives our milk — and our cheese — an unmistakable character you won’t find anywhere else. Essential to producing the highest quality cheeses is the provenance of ingredients – our milk is pure, rich and 100% local. In fact, 95% of our milk comes from our own farms, just minutes down the road from our factory on the island. Our cows graze freely on lush, salt-kissed pastures year-round, producing grass-fed milk that’s collected fresh every single day.

Australian Dairy Conference
The Australian Dairy Conference was initiated by a group of leading dairy farmers, scientists and industry representatives from around Australia. The group identified that the industry needed an independent national dairy conference to stretch and stimulate farmers and encourage them to make positive changes to their dairy businesses. The Australian Dairy Conference is an event for farmers by farmers with the aim to be the premier dairy event that inspires the industry, giving it pride in its achievements and generating optimism in its future. The current Board of ADC consists of eight farmers elected by the delegate members for 2 year terms at the AGM during each conference, a Scientific Director, an industry representative and a Director nominated by Dairy Australia. The Directors bear ultimate responsibility for the conduct of ADC and must formally sign off on final Conference budgets and the program. The ADC is a “not for profit” Company where those involved give freely of their time and skills. Conferences are held in February of each year at a different location around Australia and have been highly successful in bringing together the leading thinkers and innovators from around the globe and domestically.
