See Through Carbon
An innovative accurate, transparent, open-source, free to use carbon reporting ecosystem, designed to help us treat greenhouse gas emissions with the same degree of seriousness, rigour and detail as financial reporting. STC enables big companies to comply with increasingly stringent carbon reporting regulations by facilitating accurate Scope 3 reporting for both them and their supply chains. STC's model combines various proven ecosystem features, such as:* Linux's underlying technical architecture * Wikipedia's outsourced data creation and quality control * The UN's Sustainable Development Goals systematic framing to create a public database to both facilitate regulatory compliance, and provide data to analyse and train AI models to help measurably reduce carbon. Being free to use, and deploying creative storytelling techniques unfamiliar to most tech-based consultancies, STC is tackling carbon reporting's greatest challenge - how to convince SMEs, for whom carbon reporting in not yet mandatory and who can't afford commercial standards, to accurately report their carbon footprints at scale, so that their bigger customers, for whom accurate Scope 3 reporting is increasing a legal requirement, to comply. Current carbon auditing standards neglect small businesses because they lack the resources to pay for carbon auditing and consultancy, but they emit twice as much carbon as the bigger businesses at the top of the supply chain. See Through Carbon is created and developed by a global network of pro bono experts without external funding, and is supported via ESG and CSR programmes. It will always be free to use. If you don't pay for a standard, you can't influence it. If you can't buy integrity, why should you be able to sell it?
