Initiative For Life Concern
The organization is very much concerned about the continued threat of plastic waste and climate changes on the livelihoods of community members in addition to increased vulnerability of young people and women in our community. The concern was sparked by the loss of life of my own livestock due to eating of plastic waste and also i lost my own relative as she was trying to carryout unsafe abortion because she was still young at the age of 14 years. With such cases, as an organization we started a campaign of mobilizing communities towards ending plastic wastes and climate changes, ending sexual violence and women empowerment. We have programs on; plastic waste management, SMART agriculture where we promote organic farming and natural crops, and then a program on livelihoods where we mainly focus on empowering women and young people with hands on skills, financial literacy and empowering women to participate in the whole process of agriculture chain right way from planting, harvesting, marketing and planning for the money. We do also have a program for the young people where we mainly promote safe spaces for the young people as platforms for learning, sharing and accessing services such as sexual reproductive health services to be able to protect themselves from violence, promote their resilience and be able to maximize their full potentials. We do have a program on community education on infectious and non infectious diseases. All our programs are community driven and community led right way from the design, implementation and monitoring. As an organization, we believe in partnerships and networking to be able to address the community challenges. We are a community based organization, located in Rwenzori region in Uganda neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. We have policies that govern the organization, we have Board of directors and the secretariat. We have hosted experts from a cross the world to support us in organization strengthening.
