The Eco-Trust Society is an Environmental group in the University of Guyana, based in the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences (formerly School of Earth and Environmental Sciences). This page will illustrate what the Eco-Trust Society has been doing to make the University and Guyana more environmentally responsible, ecologically Sustainable and Energy Efficient! The Eco-Trust Society strives to equip our members with valuable experience, a strong ethical outlook, and intellectual fulfillment from our societal activities. We encourage all University students, from any degree or discipline, to help us in addressing local environmental and sustainability issues that relate to wider problems in the Guyanese society. The Eco Trust Guyana environmental club was founded in 1992 and was resuscitated in 2005 by an executive body consisting of Michelle Chow (President), Joanne Ford (Vice President), George Watkins (Public Relations Officer) and Joel Chase (Secretary/Treasurer). Since then it has been involved in a number of activities (both as host and participant) and workshops in the past years.

SES is a majority owned Guyanese Company operating in Georgetown providing Hazardous Waste Services to the Oil and Gas companies as well as other third parties. The Company has a wide range of technologies at its site including; Incinerator, Waste Water Treatment Plant, Hot Thermal Desorption Unit, Shredder and various other equipment. In addition SES has secured a major contract to provide tank cleaning services to an oil major. The SES Workforce is in excess of 90% local Guyanese Nationals who prior to being employed by SES had very little waste management experience. SES has invested heavily in training to deliver a highly motivated workforce.
