The State Scientific Research Institute Nature Research Centre (NRC) was established on 31 December 2009 under the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania (Official Gazette, No. 158-7186, 2009) by merging the Institute of Botany, the Institute of Ecology of Vilnius University and the Institute of Geology and Geography. The research potential and the experimental basis of the three institutes were integrated to create an up-to-date scientific research infrastructure for investigations into present-day and past ecosystems, as well as studies and development of environmental protection technologies. Upholding 70-year-old traditions and experience, the newly established NRC not only pursues and co-ordinates long-term scientific research in various fields of biotic and abiotic nature and ensures the competence of Lithuania on the international stage, but also takes an active role in the development and implementation of a conceptual framework for the protection of the living environment and its sustainable development, as well as disseminating scientific knowledge of biotic and abiotic environment, thus contributing to the development of the knowledge economy and education of society. Ekoagros is included into the list of approved CBs working in the EU. This approval allows Ekoagros to enter into contracts with economic entities and to inspect/certify them in accordance with the private standards such as Demeter, Bio Suisse, Naturland, CCPB, KRAV, VLOG "Ohne Gentechnik" and National Standard for Organic Products of China. From year 2017 Ekoagros is included in the list in Annex IV to Regulation (EC) No 1235/2008 and is recognized by EC as competent CB to carry out controls and issue certificates in third countries (RU, KZ, UA, BY, TJ) for the purpose of equivalence to EU organic regulations. From year 2017 Ekoagros is accredited certifying agent to perform certification activities on crops, wild crops and livestock and handling operations on behalf of USDA under the NOP. The accreditation is granted pursuant to the provisions of the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 and the USDA organic regulations (7 CFR Part 205). Ekoagros is a member of the Quavera association, IFOAM EU and EOCC.

The main aim of the organisation is to fulfil the waste management obligations of its members stated in the legislation of the EU and the Republic of Lithuania. The association was established in 2006 by the members of INFOBALT. On the behalf of producers and importers, this non-profit organisation organises the collection and management of waste of electronic devices, batteries and accumulators. Today, EEPA unites the largest distributors, producers and wholesalers of electronics and computing and trade chains in the country, which release more than 1/3 of the batteries sold nationwide and more than 2/3 electric and electronic equipment sold in the country. Activities of the association: • Toll-free collection of electric and electronic equipment, batteries, accumulators, gas discharge lamps (hereinafter "waste") in the territory of Lithuania; • Organisation of the management system of waste released to the market by the members of Association; • Association represents the interests of its members in the authorities and participates in the law-making processes; • Registration of its members in compliance with the order set by the Government or its authorized institution; • Submits waste management reports in compliance with the order set by the Government or its institutions; • Guarantees that the annual waste management tasks by the members of the Association would be performed; • Provides free consultations for the members of the Association regarding waste management; • Spreads information and educates the society on waste sorting and management.
