Joint School Science Exhibition Preparation Committee
The Joint School Science Exhibition Preparation Committee is a registered (registered in accordance with the provisions of section 5A of the Societies Ordinance) and charitable organization in Hong Kong. Since 1968, the Joint School Science Exhibition has been held both successively and successfully by the preparation committee. The establishment of the Joint School Science Exhibition (J.S.S.E.) aims at arousing public interest in science, fostering scientific research, as well as encouraging cooperation among local schools. The J.S.S.E.P.C. was founded by Professor Payne, Dean of Department of Chemistry of the University of Hong Kong in 1968. At that time, the J.S.S.E.P.C, with only ten member schools, was a pioneer of joint schools’ functions in Hong Kong. At the 10th J.S.S.E, the preparation committee was officially registered as a nonprofit making organization and the number of member schools rose to more than twenty. In addition, J.S.S.E.P.C. has been inviting teams from overseas since the 23rd J.S.S.E. in order to promote cross- cultural communication and academic exchange between students of different backgrounds. The recent exhibitions have seen more than 100 secondary schools from Hong Kong and worldwide exhibiting their scientific inventions. More than people each year have visited the exhibition. We have attracted over 40 media outlets to report the exhibition. The organization has fostered future pioneers in science and technology, including Ms. Fanny Law, the chairperson of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.
