Commercial Credit And Finance Plc
Fourth October 1982 witnessed the birth of Commercial Credit Limited in the hill capital of Kandy. The Company, registered as a Finance Company under Finance Companies Act No. 78 of 1988 under the Monetary Board of Central Bank of Sri Lanka from a steady foundation laid over a period of 28 years has re-emerged as the NEW KID IN THE BLOCK with the shifting of the main operations of the Company to Colombo in March 2010. During the initial stages of operations, the Company was mainly focused on lending to the Agricultural sector with this sector accounting for over 50% of the lending portfolio. Although the Company had 16 locations spread around the country, the traditional agricultural regions of the country, such as Anuradhapura, Dehiattakandiya, etc, accounted for the bulk of the business of the Company. A key achievement of the Company during its first phase of the existence was the inculcation of a very strong culture of Process and System driven mind set. This has resulted in the development of a highly advanced Management Information System (MIS), enabling the Company to manage day-to-day operations with a very lean staff structure. The Process Mind Set also enabled the Company to obtain ISO 9001:2008 in October 2006 for enhanced quality management compliance.

Sejaya Micro Credit Limited Official
THE EVOLUTION OF SEJAYA MICROCREDIT LTD. With the advent of Janasaviya Trust Fund in late 1980s, many NGOs started providing micro finance services to the rural poor. Many of these players provided micro finance with other capacity building initiatives such as Business Development, Health & Sanitation etc, which were aimed at enhancing the living standards of the poor. However, the first decade of this century saw many commercialized microfinance providers venturing in to microfinance with the massive funds they have accumulated. The commercialization of microfinance has created many issues in the marketplace such as over indebtedness and erosion of the credit culture of the country. When the concept of Sejaya Micro Credit was born in 2015 November, the microfinance in Sri Lanka was dominated by the commercialized microfinance providers. The founders of Sejaya, had other ideas about microfinance. Having worked with rural women for over a decade, the founders have a dream to create an organization that would live up to the true spirit of classical microfinance which is entirely a social enterprise focused on the wellbeing of low-income women of the country. They founded Sejaya with this intention to establish a different brand of microfinance with the ultimate aim of alleviating poverty. Sejaya’s goal is to create social capital, enhance living standards and reduce poverty of low-income households by providing inclusive financial services coupled with social responsibility. It envisages a Win-Win-Win situation for the Clients, Staff & the Investors.

Liin Lanka Impact Investing Network
As Sri Lanka’s very first impact investment firm, LIIN is focused on channeling private capital to solve pressing social and environmental issues in Sri Lanka by promoting impact investing across the island. This includes actively investing in social enterprises through our impact investment funds as well as providing business development support to nurture a well-developed ecosystem of social entrepreneurs across the country. While impact investments are relatively common across India and South East Asia, Sri Lanka has been overlooked due to its small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) being too small to absorb larger investments. There are an estimated social enterprises operating across the manufacturing, agriculture, cultural, creative and environmental protection sectors across the island. However, the average turnover of each of these companies remain below USD Many of these SMEs are too large to benefit from microfinance loans and are unable to afford the high cost of debt but are also too small to absorb an investment larger than USD Considering the cost of making an investment, it is not worthwhile for many of the larger impact investment funds to invest in Sri Lankan social enterprises. As such, smaller social enterprises continue to face a critical funding gap that hinders the growth of the social enterprise ecosystem in Sri Lanka. In an attempt to address this gap, the Lanka Impact Investment Network (LIIN) is currently raising two impact investments funds; a USD 5 million Social Enterprise Fund (SEF) and a USD 20 million Social Impact Capital (SIC). These are Sri Lanka’s first impact investment funds and they are two of the only funds in the world that will deploy small investments to social enterprises across the country.
