Butler Gallery
Butler Gallery is one of Ireland’s most vibrant contemporary art spaces outside of Dublin. In operation since 1943, the gallery was located in medieval Kilkenny Castle from 1976-2020. After a long development the gallery move to the historic Evans’ Home in 2020. Our policy and programme are committed to exhibiting the work of Irish and emerging artists along with highlighting major international artists, when possible. We are privileged to have an important collection of Irish and international art dating from the 1800s, which we are committed to safeguarding for the future. Our dynamic education department, offering programmes for family, youth, adult and community audiences, encourages public engagement with exhibitions, contributing to audience development and raising awareness of the Gallery’s work at a local, national and international level. We offer our visitors contemporary exhibitions, which reflect the constantly changing nature of visual art practice and the range of media used in the making of contemporary work. The Butler Gallery exists on site and off site, as a place of interaction between artists and the public – a contemporary space within a non-contemporary setting. Occupying this unique position on the Irish art circuit, we are dedicated to remaining at the forefront of artistic excellence. Proud to be funded by the Arts Council of Ireland. Registered Charity No 20038977. CHY 12922

Cill Rialaig Arts Centre
As the best place in Kerry for contemporary art, fine craft, and great food, the Cill Rialaig Arts Centre features a wide range of exhibitions, programs and workshops year round. In 1991, The Cill Rialaig Project began the rescue and restoration of a small pre-famine village on Bolus Head at the very end of the Iveragh Peninsula, thus creating an artists retreat that has attracted over the years more than artists from Ireland and the world. For over 20 years, professional artists, writers, poets and composers from Ireland and around the world have lived and worked at the Cill Rialaig Retreat, making it an important centre for creativity. The Cill Rialaig Arts Centre was built in 1995 in the Gaeltacht village of Dun Geagan, Ballinskelligs off the N70 between Waterville and Cahersiveen. The Cill Rialaig Arts Centre is located in one of the great, untouched rural landscapes of Southwest Kerry. It offers the local community and general public the opportunity to view the work of the many artists past and present who have had the opportunity to reside at the remote and protected Cill Rialaig Retreat.
