تهدف وزارة المالية إلى وضع أسس و إتجاهات التخطيط المالي للدولة وتحديد ألأطار العام و التفصيلي لعناصر الخطة المالية ضمن إطار السياسة العامة لها وخطط التنمية و تهيئة وسائل إعداد الخطة و ألأشراف على تنفيذها. تسعى الوزارة الى تحقيق أهدافها بما يأتي- 1- إدارة وتنظيم أموال الدولة ومراقبة سلامة التصرف بها بما في ذلك تحقيق ألأستخدام ألأمثل للسيولة النقدية المتاحة ما يتصل منها بالأستثمار أو تحديد أوجه ألأستخدام و عناصره. 2- إدارة الخزينة العامة وتعزيز مصادر تغذيتها. 3- إدارة وتنظيم الصيرفة و التأمين وربط الخطط ألأئتمانية و التأمينية و أهدافها بالخطة المالية للدولة وخطة التنمية. 4- إدارة وتطوير النظام الضريبي الكمركي. 5- تطوير تشريعات الخدمة المدنية و التقاعد ضمن إطار السياسة العامة للدولة في مجال الوظيفة المدنية والخدمة العامة و الضمان الاجتماعي. 6- تقديم الاستشارات الى دوائر الدولة و القطاع العام في المسائل المالية و النقدية وألأئتمانية و المصرفية والتأمينية وقوانين وقواعد وانظمة الخدمة المدنية وتدريب الكوادر الحسابية و المالية بما يضمن تطبيق ألأنظمة المحاسبية بشكل دقيق وكفوء
