The Sri Lanka Energy Program, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is a five-year technical assistance program to support the transformation of Sri Lanka’s power sector into a market-based, secure, reliable, and sustainable system. The program is working with public and private stakeholders to improve the cost-reflectivity of electricity tariffs, increase deployment of renewable energy, improve demand-side management, and deploy advanced technologies.

Though relations between India and Sri Lanka have existed for more than 2500 years, formal diplomatic relations between India and Sri Lanka were established in 1948 soon after the independence of Sri Lanka. The High Commission of India in Colombo represents the Government of India in Sri Lanka and promotes relations in all spheres between the two countries and their peoples. In addition to the High Commission in Colombo, India is represented by the Assistant High Commission of India in Kandy and the Consulates General of India in Jaffna and Hambantota.
