The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) is an agency of the Government of Malawi responsible for assessment, collection and accounting for tax revenues. MRA was established by an Act of Parliament in 1998 and was launched in February It was formed to improve on the functions previously carried out by Divisions of Customs and Excise, and Income Tax in the Ministry of Finance. The Authority operates as a government tax administration agency under the Ministry of Finance.The revenue that the Authority collects goes to Government for implementation of various socio-economic development projects such as the constructions of roads, bridges, schools health facilities and provision of social services. These include national security, provision of salaries for civil servants such as the police, the army, judges, doctors, nurses and teachers.

Mec Malawi Electoral Commission
The Constitution of Malawi mandates the establishment of an Electoral Commission that is independent of any external authority (Constitution 1994, Articles 75, 76(4)). The MEC comprises a Chairperson, who is a judge nominated by the Judicial Service Commission, and other members, not fewer than six, who are appointed by the President in consultation with the leaders of the political parties represented in the National Assembly (Constitution 75(1); Electoral Commission Act (CAP 2:03), 4(1)). The functions of the MEC are to (Constitution 1994, Article 76(2); Electoral Commission Act (CAP 2:03), 8(1)): Delimit constituencies. Determine election petitions. Direct and supervise electoral operations including voter registration. Ensure the security of elections. Conduct civic and education and create election awareness. Financial Intelligence Authority-Malawi
The Financial Intelligence Authority is the principal national agency of the Malawi Government with the mandate to prevent and combat financial crimes. The FIA was established by the Financial Crimes Act, 2017. Section 3 (3) of the FCA gives the FIA autonomy to carry out its functions without being subject to the direction, control or influence from any other person, authority or entity. The functions of the FIA, as provided for under Section 4 of the FCA, include: 1. Request, receive and analyze reports submitted by reporting institutions 2. Report to relevant enforcement and supervisory authorities when the FIA determines that there is an element of any offence under the FCA 3. Creating a database of statistics and records on financial crimes 4. Conducting research into trends, techniques, and developments on financial crimes in order to improve their detection, prevention and deterrence. Cooperating with local and international institutions, organizations or institutions on dealing with financial crime. The FCA further gives powers to the FIA to, among others: 1. Conduct investigations on financial transactions under analysis at FIA 2. Request information from any person on particular matters 3. Issue, in writing, instructions, directions, directives, guidelines or rules to reporting institutions 4. Conduct compliance inspections of reporting institutions
