The Lusaka South Multi Facility Economic Zone (LSMFEZ) was declared as a Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ) on 28th June 2010 under Statutory Instrument No. 47 of 2010 by the Government of the Republic of Zambia. LSMFEZ is being managed by the Lusaka South Multi Facility Economic Zone (LSMFEZ) Limited, a company which was incorporated on 25th June, 2012 as a Special Purpose Vehicle by the Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Ministry of Finance to manage, operate and develop the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone The LS MFEZ is located on Plot 10723, Chifwema Road, Off Leopards Hill Road, Lusaka South. The designated area of LS MFEZ is 2100 hectares of land in a rectangular configuration measuring seven (7) kilometers by three (3) kilometers. The area adjacent to the southern part of the Zone is the Lusaka Game Park which is managed by the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA). The LS MFEZ is approximately ten (10) kilometers from the Lusaka City Center and twenty one (21) kilometers from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport. An alternative road to the site is the Lusaka Inner Ring Road through built up residential areas of Kamwala, Chilenje South and Chalala which is under construction.

Corporate Profile The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) is a regulatory body established under the Public Procurement Act No. 8 of 2020. Pursuant to this Act, the Authority is charged with the responsibility of regulating public procurement. Other responsibilities are standard setting, compliance and performance monitoring, professional development and information management and dissemination in the field of public procurement. ZPPA has the following functions: 1. Regulate the procurement of goods, works and services by procuring entities and ensuring transparency, economy, efficiency, competition and accountability in public procurement. Monitor compliance with the PPA and the procurement performance of the procuring entities and making recommendations to the Minister on the performance and functioning of the public procurement system. Ensure standard bidding documents and other standard procurement documents for use by procuring entities. Advising the government and procuring entities on procurement policy and other matters relating to public procurement. Consider applications for deviations to public procurement processes, methods and rules for the accreditation of alternative procurement systems. Commission and undertake investigations in public procurement matters and institute procurement audits. Promote economy, efficiency and maximum competition to ensure value for money in the use of public funds. Promote private sector participation, through fair and non-discriminatory treatment of bidders. Recommend and ensure the application of preference and reservation schemes to promote the economic development of citizen bidders and suppliers in collaboration with the appropriate government institutions. Office Of The Public Protector Zambia
The Office of the Public Protector (OPPZ) is established pursuant to Article 243 of the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2016 and operationalized by the Public Protector Act No.15 of 2016. Following the enactment of the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act No.2 of 2016, the Office of the Public Protector was established to replace the Office of the Investigator General. This is by virtue of Article 243 of the amended Constitution. It is an OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION of Zambia entrusted with the mandate to promote and safeguard the interests and the rights of an individual in his or her quest to receive a “public service” that is just and fair. The institution also serves to promote practices of good governance within public institutions in the delivery of public services to the general public.

The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) is Zambia’s premier economic development Agency with a multifaceted mandate of promoting and facilitating trade, investment and enterprise development in the country. The Agency is also responsible for building and enhancing the country’s investment profile for increased capital inflows, capital formation, employment creation and growth of the Medium Small and Micro Enterprise (MSME) Sector. ZDA, a quasi-government institution under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry was established under the ZDA Act No. 11 of 2006. It became operational in 2007, after the amalgamation of five statutory bodies namely; Zambia Investment Centre, Zambia Privatization Agency, Export Board of Zambia, Small Enterprise Development Board and the Zambia Export Processing Zones Authority. Government amalgamated the five statutory bodies in a bid to foster synergies that would accelerate economic development and achieve sustained exponential growth. The other reason was to improve efficiency in the delivery of business development services under a one stop shop concept aimed at reducing the cost of doing business. The one stop shop concept would also make it easy to do business thereby enhancing business competitiveness.

The promotion of trade, commerce and industry in done through the lobbying for a conducive business environment and consultative meetings with quasi government institutions such as ZRA when the need arises. Other consultative meetings take place on a more regular basis like the Mopani/Chamber Liaison Committee meeting and the City Council/Chamber Liaison Committee meeting both of which take place monthly. The Mopani/Chamber Liaison Committee meeting deals with aspects of doing business with Mopani, most businesses in Kitwe and on the Copperbelt do business with Mopani and depend on them for their livelihood making this a strategic committee. Other Mine Liaison Committees have been formed with Konkola Copper Mines Plc and Luanshya Copper Mines Plc. The City Council/Chamber Liaison Committee deals with matters affecting the welfare of the city. The Chamber has identified the City Council as an important partner in development.
