East African Community
EAC is the regional intergovernmental organisation of the Republics of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Rwanda and Republic of Burundi with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. The Treaty for Establishment of the East African Community was signed on 30th November and entered into force on 7th July following its ratification by the Original 3 Partner States – Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The Republic of Rwanda and the Republic of Burundi acceded to the EAC Treaty on 18th June 2007 and became full Members of the Community with effect from 1st July 2007. Aims and Objectives The EAC aims at widening and deepening co-operation among the Partner States in, among others, political, economic and social fields for their mutual benefit. To this extent the EAC countries established a Customs Union in 2005 and are working towards the establishment of a Common Market by 2010, subsequently a Monetary Union by 2012 and ultimately a Political Federation of the East African States. Enlargement of the Community The realization of a large regional economic bloc encompassing Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda with a combined population of more than 125 million people, land area of 1.82 million sq kilometres and a combined Gross Domestic Product of $60 billion (2008*), bears great strategic and geopolitical significance and prospects of a renewed and reinvigorated East African Community. Current status The regional integration process is at a high pitch at the moment. The encouraging progress of the East African Customs Union, the enlargement of the Community with admission of Rwanda and Burundi, the ongoing negotiations of the East African Common Market as well as the consultations on fast tracking the process towards East African Federation all underscore the serious determination of the East African leadership and citizens to construct a powerful and sustainable East African economic and political bloc.

Wizara ya Katiba na Sheria ndiyo mhimili mkuu wa masuala yote ya kisheria nchini. Bila shaka ni kutokana na umuhimu huu, ndiyo sababu Wizara hii ikawa na umri wa miaka 55 sawa na umri nchi yetu hii leo. Historia ya Wizara ilianza mwaka 1961 wakati Waziri Mkuu wakati huo, Hayati Julius Nyerere alipomteua Chifu Abdallah Fundikira kuwa Waziri wa Sheria wa Kwanza Mzalendo kabla nafasi hiyo kuchukuliwa na Sheikh Amri Abeid Kaluta mwaka 1963 na baadaye Mhe. Hassan Nassor Moyo kuanzia mwaka 1964 aliyeshika nafasi hiyo hadi 1966. Baada ya hapo shughuli za Wizara zilihamishiwa Ofisi ya Waziri Mkuu na Makamu wa Pili wa Rais chini Hayati Rashid Mfaume Kawawa. Baada ya Uchaguzi Mkuu wa mwaka 1975, Wizara na Ofisi ya Mwanasheria Mkuu wa Serikali ziliunganishwa kupitia Tangazo la Serikali Na. 10 la mwaka 1975 na Mhe. Jullie Manning aliteuliwa kuwa Waziri na Mwanasheria Mkuu wa Serikali hadi mwaka 1982 alipoteuliwa Mhe. Joseph Warioba kushika nafasi hizo. Utaratibu huu uliendelea hata baada ya Uchaguzi Mkuu wa mwaka 1985 wakati Mhe. Damian Lubuva alipoteuliwa kushika nyadhifa hizo mbili hadi mwaka 1990. Mabadiliko makubwa ya Baraza la Mawaziri yaliyofanywa mwaka 1990 yalipelekea Waziri na Mwanasheria Mkuu wa Serikali kutenganishwa tena na hivyo kofia ya Uwaziri na kofi ya Uanasheria Mkuu wa Serikali zikatofautishwa. Wakati huo, shughuli za Waziri zilihamishiwa Ofisi ya Waziri Mkuu na Makamu wa Kwanza wa Rais na Ofisi ya Mwanasheria Mkuu wa Serikali ikabaki kuwa Idara inayojitegemea chini ya Ofisi ya Makamu wa Kwanza wa Rais. Mabadiliko haya yalifanywa kupitia Tangazo la Serikali Na. 140 la mwaka 1990. Mwaka 1993, Rais Alli Hassan Mwinyi aliirudisha tena Wizara ya Sheria na Mambo ya Katiba na kumteua Mhe. Samuel Sitta kuwa Waziri na Ofisi ya Mwanasheria Mkuu wa Serikali ikabaki kuwa Idara inayojitegemea chini ya Ofisi ya Makamu wa Kwanza wa Rais. Inaendelea.

The Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) is a Business Membership Organisation that was launched in July 1991.
