Though it affects so many people, very little is known about Epilepsy either by the people living with it, caregivers, or the general public. This has caused a rise in myths prevalent in communities, causing people to have wrong information about the causes, how to give first aid to someone with Epilepsy having a seizure, condition management, etc. This has resulted in people with the condition being hidden in homes, being taken to traditional healers or purported prophets who convince them that they or their loved ones are demon-possessed or bewitched by family members. The resultant effects are injuries, deaths, broken families, divorces, failure to get into relationships, failure to acquire jobs or even get into school/university/college because many believe Epilepsy is contagious. Foundation’s Vision To help create a world that is well-informed about epilepsy and related issues resulting in support and care while ensuring inclusion of people living with epilepsy in every aspect of humanity.
