Highlands College, Jersey
Highlands College is the further, higher and adult education college of the States of Jersey. It operates from a main campus in St Saviour and has an adult education annexe at the Philip Mourant Centre in Trinity. Classes are also held at various other centres in the community, including the Welcome Centre at St Thomas’ Church. The mission of Highlands is to provide lifelong learning opportunities, which enhance student achievement and bring personal and economic success. Over people study at the College annually, mainly on a part-time basis, and in September 2017 over 790 full-time students were recruited. Highlands’ vocational curriculum covers disciplines as varied as art, construction, catering, engineering, finance, information and communications technology, media, motor vehicle, sport, business, childcare, health and social care, hair and beauty, management, tourism and social science. Highlands Adult and Community Education (ACE) is committed to providing part-time courses for all sectors of the adult community. There is a host of exciting learning opportunities within the ACE portfolio, and in 2017 there were over 2,800 enrolments. University College Jersey (UCJ) is the Higher Education Department of Highlands College. The UCJ team has been delivering degree level education to Jersey students for over 20 years, and the department has grown to accommodate more than 200 full and part-time students. Degrees are delivered in partnership with UK universities (Plymouth University and London South Bank University) and, year on year, UCJ degree students achieve academic results which far exceed the UK average. Highlands Professional delivers programmes to support Managers and Team Leaders throughout their professional development, providing the highest quality of delivery and support to help achieve CPD goals. Highlands Professional also offer a range of accredited courses including CMI, CIPD, IAB, PRINCE2, and the Certificate of Offshore Administration.

Highlands College is Jersey’s only college for further, higher, and adult education. Our main campus is situated in St. Saviour, and we operate a dedicated Adult and Community Education building, the Philip Mourant Centre, in Trinity. Annually, more than students’ study with us. Approximately 700 full-time students are enrolled on our Sixth Form College Jersey programmes. Our vocational curriculum spans a range of disciplines including art, construction, catering, IT, media, automotive, sport, business, childcare, healthcare, hair and beauty, tourism, and social science. University College Jersey (UCJ) is our Higher Education department. We have provided degree-level education for Jersey students for more than 20 years. UCJ now supports around 178 students. Degrees are delivered in partnership with UK universities, including the University of Plymouth and London South Bank University. Impressively, 93% of UCJ graduates progress to further study or employment within one month of graduation. Each year, around 450 Highlands Apprenticeship students come through our doors, studying across a wide range of sectors from early years education to electrical installation. Our apprenticeships are designed to meet the island’s evolving skills needs with new programmes supplementing our offering each year. Highlands Professional supports the development of managers and team leaders throughout their careers, offering accredited qualifications such as CMI, CIPD, AAT and Praxis. These programmes combine top-quality delivery with tailored support to meet CPD goals. Highlands Adult & Community Education (ACE) offers part time courses for adults across the community. Each year we welcome around enrolments in leisure, interest, and professional development courses. Highlands College also operates a range of commercial services, including our student-led Academy Restaurant and Hairdressing and Beauty Salons. We also offer corporate venue hire across both campuses.
