Nakayale Vocational Training Centre
In 2009, the premises on which the center is located was transferred from the Ministry of Health and Social Services to the Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Education tasked the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) to establish a Vocational Training Center (VTC). NVTC officially opened its doors started in August 2011 with 40 trainees and 5 trainers offering two trades, Hospitality and Tourism L2 and Office Administration L1. The Centre conducts its operations under the realm of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Act, No. 1 of 2008, which makes provision for the management and control of all state-owned VTCs to be devolved upon the Namibia Training Authority, until such time that these Centres, in the opinion of the Board of Directors of the NTA, are transformed into self-reliant vocational education and training providers. The Nakayale VTC aligns itself with the strategic path of its parent organization, the NTA, which in turn has prioritized the provision of effective and efficient training services as a key deliverable under its current five-year Strategic Plan. Not only are the vision and mission of the Nakayale VTC aligned to that of the NTA, but the Centre also subscribes to the notion of establishing itself as a value-driven organization, under which its staff and stakeholders collectively strive towards raising the bar as far as the delivery of effective and efficient vocational and technical training services at the Centre are concerned. With generous assistance from the EU and the German Government through a GIZ’s GIZ-administered project titled theNEV TVET training Hub, NVTC was identified in 2013 to serve alongside Valombola and Eenhana VTCs as part of the Training HUB Centres to pilot the development and advancement of TVET in the country with an enhanced specialty and levels of training. As part of this engagement; Nakayale was identified as a center of specialization in Electrical Engineering and ICT.
