Mobile Info Team
Mobile Info Team (MIT) seeks to empower the people caught in and around an inefficient, ineffective, and unjust asylum system. Through making the complexities of seeking asylum more understandable, we aim to improve the lives of refugees and to promote rights and dignity in refuge. Our information is designed to give asylum seekers a decent grasp of what they have to do next, whatever their situation, and in doing so, help them reclaim a measure of control and self-determination. Communication with asylum seeker communities is what sets MIT apart. We give information through personal visits, telephone, WhatsApp, and social media, in both one-on-one assistance and general updates. This engagement has helped to dispel rumors, avoid confusion, increase the understanding of asylum procedures, and has resulted in successful asylum and family reunification applications and won the organization trust in key communities. As we move forward, MIT aims to impact asylum systems in research, viable solutions to key issues, and engagement in advocacy for reform and improvement. Everyone has a right to life, security, and dignity, and asylum seekers must have access to fair, just, and empowering refuge. This is the only acceptable response to persecution.
