Dakar International Forum On Peace And Security In Africa
The second edition of the International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa will be hold in Dakar on the 9th and 10th of November 2015 under the High Patronage of His Excellency Mr Macky SALL, President of the Republic of Senegal. This 2nd Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security will bring together more than 500 high level stakeholders: heads of state and government leaders, ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense ministers, military officials, representatives from regional and international institutions, experts, academics and civil society, think tanks and members of the private sector. A dozen of workshops will be dedicated to topical issues related to the decisive security-related challenges in Africa and their impact at the international level, with a focus on the operational and most concrete aspects. The forum will provide the opportunity to exchange with the highest political authorities and enable the participants to hold informal discussions. The Forum has been framed so as to enable the participants to organize and hold “parallel” meetings in partnership with the concerned States, organizations or institutions. The 1st edition of the International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa, that was hold in Dakar on the 15th and 16th of December 2014, brought together more than 300 participants from 40 countries (Africans and external ones), 12 international organizations, numerous think tanks, NGOs, universities, companies and medias. It gave them the possibility to hold free, informal and fructuous exchanges that contributed to deepen the strategic dialogue between Africa and its partners and to the emergence of a common vision of the new threats and the answers to bring to them.
