Delegation Of The European Union To Turkmenistan
WHO WE ARE The EU is trying to promote elsewhere the same ideas that we are implementing inside our territory: a green deal for a sustainable and circular economy, an energy transition and a more solid social protection network in a more resilient society. Now is the right time to rethink and act together. WHAT WE DO The EU Delegation to Turkmenistan: Ensures the representation of the European Union in Turkmenistan. Maintains and develops bilateral relations with Turkmenistan in accordance with the 1998 Interim Trade Agreement, notably through building partnerships with government and other decision-makers, business, academics, media and civil society; promotion of democracy, good governance and respect for human rights; facilitation of trade and investment relations. Coordinates and supports activities of EU member states Embassies. Reports back to headquarters on all matters of interest for EU policies. Works towards increasing the visibility, awareness and understanding of the EU and its policies in Turkmenistan and Central Asia. Carries out press and public diplomacy activities and promotes people-to-people contacts in pursuit of the above. Development cooperation programmes on Turkmenistan are run from the EU headquarters in Brussels or from the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan, being a long-term and fully trusted strategic development partner of the country, together with the government and other development actors in Turkmenistan works hard to support the country to address complex development issues across a broad spectrum of issues relating to democratic governance, environment and energy, and human development. In all these areas, we help strengthen national capacity and inject innovative solutions to promote social and economic growth and the national development agenda. Being the biggest UN agency, UNDP in Turkmenistan employs around 70 staff and implements roughly 25 projects with annual delivery around USD 50 million in 2023 alone. Under the new UNDP-Turkmenistan Country Programme for 2021-2025 is well equipped to offer analytical, advisory and implementation services in the areas of: 1. Governance and inclusive economic growth 2. Resilience, climate change & energy 3. Access to inclusive health services
