The Asian Law Students' Association (ALSA) is a non-profit and non-political organization that has the following visions and objectives: ALSA’S VISION 1. To focus a global vision on the promising future of Asia; 2. To promote an awareness of justice; and 3. To facilitate the recognition of the social responsibilities on law students. ALSA’S OBJECTIVES 1. To understand and appreciate the diversity and share the ideals of law in society through exchange and communication among Asian law students; 2. To motivate law students to develop a creative spirit through a network of joint activities among Asian law students; and 3. To encourage the enhancement of the capabilities of Asian Law students so as to become internationally minded, socially responsible, academically committed, and legally skilled. Currently, ALSA has an estimated members across 16 National Chapters; Brunei, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Taiwan, Laos, Singapore, Vietnam, India, and Macau.

ALSA is an international consortium of around law students and alumni located in 16 countries all over the Asian region. Formally established in 2002, the association is a merger between the previous ASEAN law students association, as well as the East Asian law students association, which were two student bodies that had similar goals of fostering stronger ties and greater understanding of the different legal systems among its member Asian countries. Recognizing their common goals, as well as the ever increasing onset of globalization in the region, these two associations signed an agreement in 2002, thus forming ALSA into the organization that is known to be today.

Masa Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia Notaris Indonesia yang tergabung dalam perkumpulan lama tersebut, diwakili seorang pengurus selaku ketuanya, Notaris Eliza Pondaag mengajukan Permohonan kepada Pemerintah c.q. Menteri Kehakiman Republik Indonesia dgn suratnya tanggal 17 November 1958 untuk mengubah Anggaran Dasar (statuten) perkumpulan itu dan berdasarkan Putusan Mahkamah Konstitusi Rl No: tgl. 13 Sept. 2005 dan Putusan MK Rl No: 63/PUU-II/2014, telah menolak uji materi atas Pasal 82 UU Jabatan Notaris dan karenanya mengukuhkan kedudukan Ikatan Notaris Indonesia sebagai satu-satunya wadah organisasi Notaris.
