The Owen Sound Transportation Company (OSTC) is one of Ontario’s largest ferry operators with a highly experienced and dedicated staff providing state-of-the-art passenger, vehicle and cargo transportation services to northern and southwestern Ontario waterways. Owen Sound Transportation Company is an operational enterprise agency of the Province of Ontario. The OSTC owns and operates a seasonal vehicle and passenger ferry, the MS Chi-Cheemaun, from Tobermory to Manitoulin Island and MV Niska I, a landing craft style ferry between Moosonee and Moose Factory Island on the Moose River, just south of James Bay in Northern Ontario. The OSTC also provides vessel management services for the Ministry of Transportation for two vessels, the MV Pelee Islander and the MV Jiimaan, operating on the Pelee Island service and a daily air service between the Ontario mainland and Pelee Island during the winter months when the ferry service is not in operation.

It's also possible for a foreign vessel owner to be exempt from Canadian sales taxes on both materials and labor. This can be a substantial savings compared to the applicable local state and federal sales taxes. Also, labour performed in Canada is not subject to any U.S. duty or taxes. Together these exemptions might mean a 25-30% reduction in the total cost of work done by Philbrook’s. Canadian boats must pay GST and PST. To assist in transporting your vessel to and from our location, we provide an extremely economical ‘pick up and delivery service’. Boat pick-up & drop-off is available upon request, at your expense. WHAT "FULL SERVICE" MEANS We offer the following trades on site: Mechanical, Electrical, Woodworking, Composite (Fibreglass), Painting, Metal Fabrication, Boat Building, Detailing, & Upholstery and Canvas. We sub-contract for some items such as Refrigeration and Carpet Cleaning. Our work comes with a one-year warranty, and all parts are guaranteed by the manufacturer. We also offer complimentary airport or ferry pick-up & drop-off, and can arrange accommodation and other travel requirements. Staying aboard your boat is not encouraged while it's being worked on.
