Nato Mountain Warfare Centre Of Excellence

The NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence (NATO MW COE) is a multi-nationally sponsored and accredited international military institution which offers recognized expertise and experience for the benefit of the Alliance and its member nations. The NATO MW COE is not part of the NATO Command Structure (NCS), but forms part of the wider framework supporting the NATO Command Arrangements (NCA). The mission of the NATO MW COE is to assist NATO member states, partners, other countries and international organizations in order to enhance mountain warfare capabilities through the following core areas: The development of mountain warfare-specific doctrine and tactics- Concept development and experimentation- The mountain warfare lessons learned process- Education and training- Support of capability development. The vision of the NATO MW COE is for it to be the hub for mountain warfare expertise in the NATO community.
