Zavisno preduzeće „Rudnik i termoelektrana Ugljevik“ ad Ugljevik je zavisno preduzeće koje posluje u okviru Mješovitog holdinga „Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske“. Pretežna djelatnost preduzeća proizvodnja električne energije i eksploatacija i prodaja uglja. Ugljevički basen raspolaže rezervama od oko 430 miliona tona uglja a eksploatacija se trenutno vrši na površinskom kopu "Bogutovo Selo". Rudnik godišnje proizvede oko 1,8 mil. tona uglja i 8,3 miliona m³ čm. Preko 95% proizvodnje uglja završi u ložištu termoelektrane a ostatak ide u komercijalnu prodaju.

Lykos Metals Limited putem Lykos Balkan Metals d.o.o. Bijeljina planira da investira u geološka istraživanja bazičnih i plemenitih metala na tri lokacije u RS/BiH. Istraživanja će se sprovoditi u opštinama Petrovo, Mrkonjić Grad, kao i dijelom Jezero i Šipovo, te u opštini Čajniče. Istraživački poduhvat Lykos-a, koji bi trebalo da donese ekonomiji Republike Srpske ali i cijele BiH značajan podsticaj, baziraće se na istraživanju ekonomski isplativih rezervi ruda olova, cinka i bakra u cilju otvaranja ekološki održivih rudnika. Uslovi za listiranje na ASX diktiraju stroga pravila poslovanja od starta i svjetske standarde ekološke održivosti koje se Lykos obavezao da će poštovati. Rudnik Mrkog Uglja Breza
Rudnik mrkog uglja "Breza" u Brezi smješten je 20 km sjeverozapadno od glavnog grada BiH, počeo je sa radom 1907. godine kada je na ovom lokalitetu otvoren prvi kop. Danas rudnik "Breza" posluje u sklopu koncerna JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d- Sarajevo kao Zavisno društvo Rudnik mrkog uglja "Breza" d.o.o- Breza. RMU "Breza" radi sa 2 podzemna rudnika,'Kamenice' i 'Sretno', zajedničkom separacijomi i površinskim kopom "Koritnik".'Kamenice' se nalaze jugoistočno od rudnika 'Sretno', a dva rudnika su međusobno povezani zajedničkim sistemom ventilacije i zajedničkim transporterom za transport rovnog uglja iz rudnika izgrađenim 1987. godine. Sve do 1970. godine RMU "Breza" radio je i sa podzemnim rudnikom 'Goruša'. Pored toga u skorijoj prošlosti RMU "Breza" je radio i sa dva mala površinska kopa. Jedan od ovih kopova nalazio se sjeveroistočno od glavnog kompleksa i nije rekultiviran jer je predviđeno da se ovaj kop koristiti za deponiju grada Breze. Rudnik sada odlaže otpad iz separacije u ovaj napušteni kop. Oba sadašnja rudnika koriste sistem širokih čela za osnovno dobijanje uglja. Poslijeratna proizvodnja u prosjeku je bila približno t/g iako je sadašnji instalirani kapacitet približno t/g. Približno 40 % sadašnje proizvodnje otprema se prugom normalnog kolosijeka u TE Kakanj. Podzemni rudnici RMU 'Breza' mogu proizvoditi najkvalitetnije komercijalne proizvode u regiji, sa visokom kaloričnom vrijednošću i niskim sadržajem pepla. Sadržaj sumpora je relativno niži nego većine ugljeva Srednje Bosne (prosječno 0,85 % sagorivog sumpora). Komercijalni ugalj ima dovoljan kvalitet za mogući izvoz. Komercijalni ugalj može se takođe koristiti za domaću potrošnju i u industriji.

Rudnik Mrkog Uglja Kakanj
Rudnik mrkog uglja „Kakanj“ kao privredno društvo jedna je od proizvodno poslovnih cjelina Koncerna JP „Elektroprivreda BiH“ D.D. Sarajevo. Organizacione cjeline u Rudniku su: Pogon „Haljinići”, Pogon “Vrtlište”, Pogon “Separacija”,Pogon “Održavanje” i Ekonomska jedinica “Stručne službe”. Eksploatacija uglja se obavlja na površinskim i podzemnim kapacitetima. Prerada uglja mokrim teškotekućinskim separiranjem i suhim klasiranjem obavlja se u Pogonu „Separacija”. Na Površinskom kopu “Vrtlište” moguća je proizvodnja do 800 hiljada tona godišnje, a u podzemnoj eksploataciju u Pogonu “Haljinići” do 400 hiljada tona. Trenutni kapaciteti omogućavaju proizvodnju od oko tona uglja godišnje. Investiranjem u razvoj novih kapaciteta, proizvodnja uglja u Rudniku „Kakanj“ postupno se može povećavati prema količinama i do 2,0 miliona tona uglja godišnje. Rudnik mrkog uglja „Kakanj“ raspolaže sa ukupnim geološkim rezervama od 425,05 miliona tona uglja, od čega 241,40 miliona tona su bilansne, a eksploatacione rezerve iznose 156,21 miliona tona uglja.
