The Women in Mining Association of Namibia (WiMAN) is a powerful voice for women in Namibia's mining industry. Founded in April 2017, this advocacy group officially launched on the 10th of November of that year. Their mission is to empower women across the entire mining sector, from large-scale operations to small-scale operations as well as entrepreneurs. WiMAN tackles the challenges faced by women in mining by raising awareness and advocating for change. They represent all women in the mining value chain, including: • Core professionals in large-scale mining companies • Women working in Artisanal & Small-scale operations • Aspiring mining professionals, including students • Women mining entrepreneurs, such as those who hold Exclusive Prospecting Licenses (EPLs), mining rights/claims or run their own businesses Through their work, WiMAN is transforming the mining sector by ensuring women have a strong and equal role in its future.
