Human Activities
Human Activities is an arts institute that tries to make sure that critique of inequality does not only bring wealth and beauty in museums in global cities, but also on the plantations that have historically financed these museums. The institute was founded by Dutch artist Renzo Martens and has collaborated with the Congolese Plantation Workers Art League - CATPC (acronym of the French 'Cercle d’Art des Travailleurs de Plantation Congolaise')- since 2014. Over the last centuries, plantations have funded the construction of many European and American museums, where art provided an opportunity for shareholders to distance themselves from the violence of the plantation system. To this day, rain forests are cut down and turned into plantations, leading to more inequality, degradation of biodiversity and global warming. The value extracted from these plantations is still partially invested in museums in New York, Dakar and Paris, generating wealth in the economy around them (gentrification), yet leaving depleted landscapes and impoverished people. Many of these museums are now decolonizing. The next step is not just to decolonize museums, but also for the people living on the plantations to be able to decolonize themselves. The collaboration between CATPC and Human Activities operates from a former Unilever plantation, in the heart of its global plantation system. Here, we built a fully equipped arts center, with at its heart a quintessential white cube. Together, CATPC and Human Activities make art, and from its income, CATPC secures exhausted plantation land for future generations and turns it into ecological and egalitarian gardens: the post plantation.

It is a new town, beautifully situated on three lakes: Gooimeer, IJmeer and Markermeer. The city was built beside these dikes, 2 – 5 meter below sea level. Almere with its beautiful houses, gardens, cycle paths, and a short travel distance to Amsterdam, continues to develop rapidly. Construction, infrastructure and employment opportunities have had now enough attention. It is the right time for a museum of contemporary art. How can Almere, home to a relatively young population, express itself better with a museum devoted to digital art? An artistic digital highway, with artistic initiatives, developments and research, an artistic digital valley is needed to pioneer in this field.

Museum 't Kromhout Amsterdam
In een gebied waar ooit vele kleine scheepswerven gevestigd waren, is Museum ‘t Kromhout het enige overgebleven bewijs van de economische glorie die de scheepsbouw Amsterdam tot in de twintigste eeuw bracht. Werf ‘t Kromhout is 150 jaar geleden opgericht. De Westkap van het unieke, monumentale complex is nog steeds in gebruik als scheepswerf. In de indrukwekkende Oosthal vind je een boeiende presentatie van de geschiedenis en de historische, nog werkende Kromhoutmotoren die hier sinds 1895 tot eind jaren 60 werden gebouwd. Naast de draaiende motoren op elke derde zondag van de maand, is op dinsdag het restauratieproces van de motoren van dichtbij te volgen. Ons vrijwilligersteam staat altijd klaar om vragen te beantwoorden en geeft uitleg over de geschiedenis en de techniek van verbrandingsmotoren. Voor de jongste bezoekers hebben wij de Kids Explorer Tours, leerzame, maar vooral ook leuke, interactieve ontdekkingstochten door het museum. In de smederij zijn regelmatig workshops en cursussen. Groepen kunnen wij (in overleg) op alle dagen van de week ontvangen. Wij organiseren educatieve rondleidingen voor scholieren en studenten. Museum 't Kromhout neemt regelmatig deel aan grote publieksevenementen zoals Zeehavendagen Amsterdam en Weekend van de Wetenschap. Museum Kaap Skil
Museum Kaap Skil is a versatile museum about Texel’s maritime history. In the broadest sense, Museum Kaap Skil is about life with, about, at and along the sea. There are exhibits about the fisheries, shipping, beachcombing and the importance of Texel during the Golden Age. In these days, Texel was an important hub for shipping. The Roads of Texel lay off the coast of Oudeschild, the largest anchorage in the world. These days come to life on and around the lifelike model, where 160 miniature ships give a good impression of what it looked like. In the exposition Underwater Archeology, hundreds of surfaced objects are displayed, originating from ships which sank centuries ago on the Roads of Texel. Buried under the sand, the shipwrecks and their cargo have been preserved. Become a volunteer Volunteers are very important for Kaap Skil. Thanks to them, the open-air museum bursts with activity. The millers, the smith, the ropemakers, fish smokers, net-makers, ship model builders, shop ladies and beachcombers keep the old crafts alive and share their knowledge and stories with the visitors. Leven in het rivierengebied: verhaal van Prehistorie via Romeinen met actuele opgravingen tot in 1980 met het water als leidend thema is te zien in de permanente tentoonstelling. Museum Of Edible Earth
The Museum of Edible Earth has been envisioned since 2017 and assembled in 2020, in Amsterdam, NL. The museum brings together a collection of edible soils from across the globe. It invites the audience to review and rethink their knowledge about food and cultural traditions using creative thinking. The Museum of Edible Earth through its exploration of edible soils explores the following questions: What stands behind earth-eating tradition? Where does the edible earth come from? What are the possible benefits and dangers of eating earth? How do the material properties in earth affect its flavor? With the view to understand more the reality of contemporary geophagy, and also to constitute the collection of The Museum of Edible Earth, the masharu studio has been building up an extensive database of the edible soils for oral use available on the market. The goal is to constitute an extensive collection of soils suggested for oral use from the most countries possible and, through their different cultural uses and histories, but also with the help of cross-disciplinary partnerships, workshops and collaborations, redesigning and reconsidering the earth. The museum currently has more than 400 types of soil from 34 countries around the globe such as Belarus, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, France, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Russia, Slovenia, Suriname, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan and more.

Nationaal Jenevermuseum Schiedam
We zijn de plaats waar alles samenkomt rond gedistilleerd: kennis, netwerk, beleving van het levend erfgoed van distilleren en vooral moutwijnjenever maken. Het museum is platform en kenniscentrum. Beginnende distillateurs halen kennis, ervaring en netwerken; voor gevestigde distillateurs zijn we een toonkamer voor hun erfgoed. Bezoekers bieden we verhalen op maat en beleving. Educatieve groepen krijgen verschillend invalshoeken op geschiedenis en heden. We hebben bevlogen molenaars en stokers die vol trots en passie vertellen over de ambachten die zij in leven houden. Deze trots delen alle medewerkers binnen de organisatie. Wij weten waar we voor staan en zijn trots op de bijzondere, eeuwenoude ambachten die in het museum te ontdekken zijn. Museummolen De Walvisch aan de Westvest, het Jenevermuseum aan de Lange Haven en het Depot aan de Buitenhavenweg vormen samen één geheel in het Nationaal Jenevermuseum Schiedam.

Stichting Erfgoed Stein
Stichting Erfgoed Stein is originally the foundation founded by Father Munsters in response to some very important archaeological finds in Stein in the mid-1960s. The most important and probably also best known is the Neolithic tomb from over 3500 BC. The museum that was built around the grave became the headquarters for the Pater Munsters Archaeology Foundation. In the year the archaeological collection of Father Munsters and the private collection of Doctor Beckers from Beek were merged to form the Dokter Beckers-Pater Munsters Archaeology Foundation. Since 2015, the aforementioned foundation proudly bears the name Stichting Erfgoed Stein; SES for short.

In 2024 komt Meta's boek uit bij Walburg Pers: het Handboek voor Tijdreizigers. Meta Knol has a unique profile at the intersection of culture, science and society. As an author, moderator, guest curator and content-strategic advisor, she always keeps a keen eye on a sustainable future. As an art historian, she specializes in modern and contemporary art and actively participates in debates about museum innovation. As director of Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden, she was responsible for the integral renewal and the widely acclaimed restoration and expansion (2019). As director of Leiden European City of Science 2022, one of the ten excellent projects of the HorizonEurope programme, she developed a new, bottom-up model for Public Engagement with Science. As co-founder of the Ministry of the Future, a national movement of time rebels and cathedral thinkers, she focuses on new, future-oriented forms of civic design. In 2024, Meta's book will be published by Walburg Pers: the Handbook for Time Travelers.

Casco Art Institute Working For The Commons
Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons is an experimental platform where art invites a social vision, based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Art and the commons are two key practices, serving as tools and models for non-capitalist ways of living together. Casco Art Institute advances this vision by creating a space or “Casco”, meaning in Dutch “a basic structure” for change, co-exploration, and study through collective art projects and organizational experiments. Collective art projects are co-developed from critical questions and radical imagination. These initiatives are process-based and place-specific, forming communities and generating art and knowledge as common resources. Organizational experiments are embedded in all these projects, including within the structure of Casco Art Institute itself. The aim is to offer an example of a commonly desirable institution of art and the commons—one that embodies diversity, equity, pluralism, and sustainability. Casco was founded in 1990 as an experimental art space on the Oudegracht in Utrecht. In 1995, it was renamed Casco Projects, initiating a program focused on autonomy and intervention. In 2003, it adopted the name Office for Art, Design and Theory to expand its framework to include artistic research and interdisciplinary practices. In 2007, Casco moved to a new location on the Nieuwekade, designed by ifau (Institute for Applied Urbanism) and Jesko Fezer. In 2014, it relocated to its current space on Lange Nieuwstraat. The year 2018 marked another significant transition with the renaming to Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons. This shift signaled a commitment to actualizing artistic practices through non-capitalist, feminist values grounded in reproduction, care, and sustainability.
