A38 Ship

A38 is the reincarnation of 'Tripolie', a Ukranian stone-carrier ship, built in 1968. The name comes from Artemovsk which is the ship prototype, and this one was the 38th unit of the 'Artemovsk' class. The re-building project lasted for one and a half years. Architects, ship engineers, acoustic designers, electricians, musicians and promoters contributed their skills and experience to make it a both artist and audience friendly place. After years of constant development, A38 has become a cultural entertainment centre with international programme, a restaurant, five bars, one main concert hall, open-air terraces and lounges - all in one aboard as one of the most fascinating venues in Budapest. Since its opening it became the flagship of Budapest nightlife, a must-see spectacle on the Danube with scenic view and one of Europe's coolest clubs which has been voted 'The World's Greatest Bar' – according to the poll of Lonely Planet in 2012.

Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra

The Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra has been a permanent performer of the classical music scene’s international elite for more than half a century, thus they are rightly known as one of the best representatives of the chamber music genre. The orchestra is led by Péter Tfirst since 2016 and year after year performs in the most significant concert halls with first-class soloists, who delights in working with an orchestra due to their high degree of precision, versatility and adaptability. The orchestra was founded in 1963 by former students of the Franz Liszt Music Academy. During this half a century – under the leadership of firstly, Frigyes Sándor and subsequently János Rolla – the orchestra has gained an international recognition: they have performed in more than fifty countries; including the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Sydney Opera House, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and the Théatre de la Ville in Paris. The recent years abounded with outstanding concerts: the band performed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Victora Hall in Geneva and the Heydar Aliyev in Baku, and also played at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. They visited the world famous National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing and were invited to one of the most prestigious festivals of Asia: the Chine-Shanghai International Arts Festival. The PERFECT ACOUSTIC is the market leader acoustic company in Hungary for 12 years. Our company is involved in the production of acoustic panels, diffusers, acoustic measurements, and design, as well as acoustic and air baffle panels for offices, showrooms, and studios. Acoustics are an essential element to get a good sound in any Hi-Fi room or cinema room or production studio. Even high-end amplifiers, speakers, and cables are insufficient in themselves to produce the coveted sound quality. This is where you will find our products really helpful. Our panels and diffusers are available in different colours and designs. We will find solutions even to the most specific of needs (by means of hidden deep absorber membranes, if need be). As it often happens, especially with ladies, panels are unwelcome in people’s homes; however, no one will object to decorative elements, including ones customized with photos… We do not use sponge, polystyrol, or xps. These are quite nice to look at, but they are rather poor in terms of efficiency. We perform tests and measurements on all types of our products (material types) with the aim to eliminate harmful sound waves as efficiently as possible. Your listening environment influences every decision you make about recording and mixing, from how much low end the kick drum needs to how loud the tambourine should be in the chorus. Sadly, many people ignore this fact of life:the room is the most important component in the monitoring chain.

Kalyi Jag “As a north-eastern Hungarian gipsy kid, I have dreamed big. Now, I live that dream.” Gusztáv Varga (decorated with one of the highest Hungarian medals, the Knight’s Cross) The Group was founded at the end of August 1978 by young Roma lawyers, educators and working-class origin musicians coming from the territory of north-eastern Hungary. There were several reasons for the foundation. On the one hand, it became necessary to make widely known the real, authentic Roma culture, on the other hand to defeat by fostering their mother tongue the negative opinions, since through the language of music everybody is understandable and everybody can be loved. The Kalyi Jag’s performance is always followed by great success and satisfaction from both the organizers’ and the audience’s sides. Their concerts are always very professional and because of their personalities and charismatic appearances, make it very entertaining as well Kalyi Jag’s Band of music is authentic and primeval engaging in merriment with tears, pressed by unbelievable energies, percolating down into one’s soul. Gusztav Varga has created a musical, the Roma Legend, written and composed by himself. For the first time, this musical puts on show the unique history of the Gypsy people, their culture, myth and migration, with original music and spectacular dances. To give a new dimension to the Gypsy band’s success story, we set up the Kalyi Jag Arts Management Company. We host WOMEX in 2020 in Budapest as one of the major actors of world music in the CEE region. We select, publish, stage and promote top & upcoming world music artists from Hungary and beyond. Hangveto has organised concerts and festivals since 2004, and is an established world and folk music label. Majdnem Híres Rocksuli - Almost Famous Music Business School

In 2008 four people, including music journalists, musicans and music business workers decided to found a music business school in Budapest. It was clear to them that school’s name should come from the film titled Almost Famous – which they all liked very much and the title is a good definition of the music business workers, who are doing their jobs in the background. Since 2008 the school has had more than 400 students and more than 50% of their students are now working in the music business. Majdnem Híres has several courses: the main course is Music Business Manager, but they have a course about sponsorship and communication in Music Business and they have educated several music journalist too. Recently Majdnem Híres students are working in several segments of Hungarian music scene: you can meet them at the most important band’s management teams, publisher companies, festivals, etc.

Söndörgö

Among world music groups in Hungary, Söndörgő is one of those playing most briskly, most vigorously. Their aim is to foster and preserve ample Southern Slavic traditions. In Hungary, Southern Slavs live in groups rather isolated from each other, thus ethnic heritage treasured and maintained by them is quite multicolored. The group was founded in 1995 in a small Hungarian town near Budapest called Szentendre. Partly because of family motives all group members are profoundly touched by Southern Slavic folk music. The members of the group are the followings: Attila Buzás, Áron Eredics, Benjamin Eredics, Dávid Eredics and Salamon Eredics. As opposed to most groups playing Balkan music, Söndörgő does not follow the brass-instrumented tradition – it is a typical tamburitza band. Their sound is based on the instruments of the tamburitza family, completed occasionally by wind instruments and accordion. Their genuine repertoire is compiled out of the material gathered by Béla Bartók, and Tihamér Vujicsics. Nowadays Söndörgő is a constant performer of festivals in Hungary and Europe and they repeatedly have worked together with the famous Macedonian saxophonist, Ferus Mustafov – fruit of this collaboration is their joint 2009 album, In concert. Their new album „Lost Music of the Balkans” a collaboration with the last prim tamburitza of Mohacs ensemble, and two singers, will come out in the spring 2011 in Europe.
