Norske Skog owns six profitable bio product mills, strategically located near attractive markets. The Norske Skog group has decided to enter the packaging market with tons by conversion of newsprint machines at Bruck (Austria) anf Golbey (France). The group has a product portfolio consisting of biogas, bio energy, wood pellets, bio composites, bio chemicals, and nano cellulose. Norske Skog expects non-publication paper activities will represent about 50% of total revenues by 2030. Total paper production capacity is 1.9 million tons. Norske Skog is a leading producer of publication paper with strong market positions in Europe and Australasia.

Norske Skog Skogn is the only producer of newsprint in Norway. It was founded in 1962 and the first newsprint machine started its production in 1966. Norske Skog Skogn is one of the largest newsprint mills in Europe. Serving demanding customers worldwide, the mill has its own port facilities, and operates a twice-a-week regular line to the UK and Continental Europe.

The Paper and Fibre Research Institute (PFI) is a centre of expertise for wood fibres, pulp and paper, new biobased materials and sustainable biorefining. PFI was established in Oslo in 1923 as the Norwegian Pulp and Paper Research Institute. PFI moved to Trondheim in 1997/98, and established a close cooperation with the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. In 2004 PFI changed name to the Paper and Fibre Research Institute and became a subsidiary of Innventia in Stockholm, Sweden.
