The Marionettes Chorale
Founded in 1963 and incorporated as a non-profit organisation in 2005, the Marionettes is one of the Caribbean's most celebrated choirs and performing arts organisations, both at home and abroad. In 1995, the Youth Chorale was formed, comprising boys and girls from over 30 secondary schools nationwide, from ages 11 through 26. In 2012, the group began welcoming youngsters eight years and up. The adult and youth choirs together average 100-odd singers. Led by Artistic & Musical Director Gretta Taylor, and artistic, musical, and administrative committees headed by Production Managers Joanne Mendes and Jacqueline Smith and Assistant Artistic Director Caroline Taylor — along with a collective of musicians (Joshua Joseph, Khadija Huggins, Caryll Warner and Dr. Maegan Pollonais McGrane) — the choirs mount at least two major series a year, showcasing a repertoire ranging from western classical (European Renaissance through postmodern pieces), to spirituals, gospel, Caribbean folk and calypso, and full-length operas and musical theatre productions. “We are extremely proud of our calypso and steelband traditions, and regularly adapt them for the choir. But we also want to show international audiences the vast range of talents and traditions that we have in the Caribbean. We want to move audiences with classic choral music as well as making their feet tap with our own traditional music, and do both equally well in the same programme. Our top priority is to do good music of every kind, and to do it as well as we possibly can, because we believe in it, and because good music can speak to us all in a profound way if we take the trouble to listen.” – Gretta Taylor

All of Lordstreet's projects muse on Jouvay Process to produce story-telling which describes historical, political, social and contemporary relationships in order to, maybe, induce unconventional states of natural awareness to point out the inherent tyranny and oppressive nature of the established order of understanding and sensitivity. This work seeks to inhabit and go beyond 'jamette consciousness', the mysterious and aboriginal subterranean depths of the inter-cultural anarchist tendency of the 'jamette'.'PEOPLES OF THE SEA' OBSERVING JOUVAY PROCESS 'make a ritual of the sunrise'. jouvay forever!

Mas' Rebellion Ltd
Mas' Rebellion! is a Carnival Band rebelling against the narrow confines of bikini and beads and "exclusive" all-inclusive bands. We start with the art of storytelling and produce the costuming for YOU the masquerader to perform the art of Carnival. Trinidad and Tobago is a land of plenty. Plenty colours, plenty shapes and plenty sizes. If you love our art and you love our costumes – you can be a Rebel! If you want to have a good time on the road – you can be a Rebel! Carnival was once more than a parade through the streets. Our presentations were more than that - they were exhibitions of art and beauty, and stories of politricks and economics. Carnival was a commentary on the State, on Society and about our very humanity. Mas’ Rebellion seeks a return to this part of our roots. We believe in story and spectacle. You will embody a character, an idea or a concept. Your costume will be one piece of a greater whole: an epic story told through bodies and motion; through colour, light and sound. We believe in diversity. No one is too big or too small to be a Rebel. No one is too dark or too fair. No one is too gay or too straight. No one is too old or too young, and no one is too wassy or too stush! If you love our art and you love our costumes – you can be a Rebel! If you want to have a good time on the road – you can be a Rebel! If you want to get on bad bad bad – you can be a Rebel! If you want to stand up and take a small wine here and there – you can be a Rebel! We only ask our masqueraders to do three things: 1) Love your body and your costume on de road 2) Respect each other and stay safe, and 3) Have a great time!
