Elem Israel - Youth In Distress
ELEM- Youth in Distress is Israel's premier nonprofit organization addressing at-risk youth. ELEM seeks to locate and rehabilitate these teens and young adults and reintegrate them as productive members of society. The teens ELEM meets face a broad range of distress from normative adolescent crises and school attrition through much more complex situations, including social and family issues, questions relating to sexual identity, religious identity, drug and alcohol abuse, violence, criminal behavior, sexual exploitation, sexual abuse, and homelessness. ELEM specializes in identifying the hardships facing young people in Israel, and in developing innovative and relevant responses tailored to different populations. Every night, thousands of teens and young adults roam public parks, town squares, hangouts, and hideouts. Volunteers and staff on ELEM's outreach vans offer immediate humanitarian assistance, sometimes as basic as instant noodles and blankets. ELEM’s vans also set up in known hotspots and serve as a base for one-on-one meetings, access to phones, brochures, and first aid. The vans both provide critical services to teens on the streets and act as ELEM’s eyes and ears in mapping the changing of spectrum of risk facing Israel’s young people.

American Friends Of Elem
Founded in 1982, ELEM/Youth in Distress in Israel is the country’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to treating and transforming the lives of troubled youth. ELEM’s 280 professionals and more than 1,700 volunteers don't wait for referrals to treat these youth, but seek them out on their turf - on the streets, in schools, on the Internet and at bars and nightclubs. The young people we serve annually and the additional youth who reach out to ELEM online each year face tremendous challenges, such as: domestic violence, substance abuse, neglect, bullying, homelessness and prostitution. ELEM works with secular and religious Jews; Christian and Muslim Arabs including Bedouins; immigrants, including those from the Former Soviet Union and Ethiopia; and the LGBT community. Many live on the streets and most of them will not seek help from traditional social service groups. Our 78 programs in 43 cities provide counseling, mentoring, vocational training and a safe space for Israeli youth to envision a positive future for themselves and become productive members of Israeli society.

They taught him the values of charity and kindness that form the basis of the organization, focused on helping individuals overcome the challenges of poverty and achieve financial stability. Founded in 1988, Yad Ezra V’Shulamit began by delivering food baskets to 50 local families in need. Today it is a nation-wide organization with over food baskets distributed weekly to families all over Israel. Eritrean Women's Community Center In Israel
The Eritrean Women's Community Center in Tel Aviv is an initiative designed and run independently by a group of Eritrean refugee women. Established in November 2011, the center aims to provide Eritrean women with a safe space as well as access to important services. This center is the first and only one of its kind, utilizing a grass roots approach to support and em Eritrean women in a fundamental way. Representing a safe space, the Center stands as a community fixture recognized as the location women can turn to in order to access information, services and support. Eritrean women in Israel traveled through the Sinai desert in Egypt in order to reach the border with Israel. This journey is notoriously dangerous as many refugees are held hostage by traffickers for extended periods of time until they are released in exchange for large sums of money. Many women are raped and the majority of individuals experience violence, torture, and a severe lack of basic needs along the way. There are Eritrean refugee women in Israel. About of them experienced sexual assault and torture in the Sinai desert. All Eritrean women in Israel lack access to basic services including healthcare and welfare. The Women's Center is the only place working to further community-based support structures for women. We offer a variety of direct services to help women struggling with past and current trauma. Our individual support services offer one-on-one assistance for vulnerable women with a special focus on single mothers. We run support groups led by trained social workers. We host community events to foster mutual solidarity and support on topics ranging from childcare to women’s health to domestic abuse. We hold monthly traditional coffee ceremonies, where women can come together in a supportive environment to talk about their struggles and offer support and advice.

It will be a vibrant meeting place for all of Jerusalem’s elderly, regardless of race, religion, or cultural background.
