African Constituency Bureau For The Global Fund
Founded under a resolution by Africa Health Ministers, the African Constituency Bureau brings together 46 African countries that are recipients of Global Fund Support. The Bureau aims to help Africa attract, leverage and invest in resources to end epidemics in Africa, with AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria as top priorities. We do this by strengthening the capacity of African health leaders to effectively represent Africa’s interests and needs, engage in global health governance and influence global health discussions and decisions. We facilitate the meaningful engagement of African countries in global health discussions and processes and ensure that Africa’s voice is enhanced to influence Global Health policy decisions. The Bureau offers new thinking and new approaches to addressing some of today’s most intractable health issues in Africa. One of the biggest challenges in influencing global health policy is accurate information. The Bureau, therefore, fosters independent policy analysis and research and provides forums – like think tanks, Cluster based Learning Networks, on-line policy forums and communities of practice – through which African academics, government officials, global health leaders and prominent thinkers can feed into policy discussions and debate key issues.

We are an African Union public-private-youth initiative led by the Africa CDC. The initiative seeks to establish a network of COVID-19 vaccination youth champions across the continent to accelerate the uptake of coronavirus vaccination in Africa. Specifically, the initiative seeks to: • Create a network of Bingwas, • Make a directly attributable contribution to vaccinating at least 100 million Africans including 70 million youth, and • Make an indirect contribution to bridging the 760 million vaccination gap in Africa by increasing demand for coronavirus vaccinations. The Bingwas Initiative is youth-led and youth-focused. It will be results-focused and thus contribute to the speed and at-scale delivery of Coronavirus vaccinations in AU member states. The initiative will combine advocacy and service delivery activities, acknowledging the need to adapt to different countries' and communities' needs and contexts, and that a one-size-fits-all approach will not work. The initiative will invest in youth engagement and empowerment, and shared value partnerships, underpinned by the principles of different comparative advantages, co-creation, co-learning, co-evolving, collective impact and mutual accountability.
